It’s always bugged me how male Sims look so smooth. In real life, men often have a subtle beard shadow that shaving alone can’t fully remove. You'd need laser treatments (or concealer) to completely get rid of it. This mod introduces these subtle beard shadows into the game, automatically!
What This Mod Does
Beard Shadows for Male Adults
All Young Adult and older Sims will now have a natural beard shadow by default. The only exception is for male Sims with a feminine frame. Certain Adults will have thicker beard shadows by default to accurately reflect the aging process. If you're creating a new adult male Sim in CAS, you can apply the beard shadow manually if you want to see what it looks like. Beard shadows are only automatically applied once you're in Live mode.
Compatible with Facial Hair
The beard shadows are applied using the Mouth Details layer, meaning they can be combined with any facial hair. Keep in mind that the mod checks to ensure the Mouth Details layer is empty before applying the beard shadow—so if you already have something applied on the Mouth Details layer, the beard shadow won’t appear until it’s removed. If you'd like the beard shadows to apply to the Birthmark layer instead, download the alternate version of the mod here: https://simfileshare.net/folder/230083/
Customizable and Removable
The beard shadows will automatically attempt to match a Sim’s hair color and skin color, but you can change the color in CAS at any time. If a Sim's hair color is unnatural, the mod will apply a suitable natural-looking swatch instead of a direct color match. If you want to remove the beard shadow from a Sim, you can shift + click on a Sim and select "Remove Beard Shadow." Should you ever wish to reapply the beard shadow, simply shift + click on the Sim again and select "Apply Beard Shadow."
Compatible with Darker Skin Tones
I've made the first two swatches with darker skin tones in mind. The mod is smart enough to apply these swatches only to Sims who likely have dark skin versus a Sim with an Asian heritage, for instance.
This mod would not be possible without Watcher Dash, whose generous TOS allowed me to leverage her 5 o'clock shadow facial hair texture for use in this mod. A big THANK YOU to her!
This mod was made possible by Sims 4 Studio and Tuning Builder.

Just after I manually edited all my Sims one by one too lmao. Okay I skipped some, and this will help regardless, thanks. :)

The mod has been updated, hopefully it'll be easier for you to manage!
LightningZBolt
Thanks. :)

I’ll add a cheat in the next update to make it easier to manage
LightningZBolt
I was just removing it, I suppose that explains it.

Are you removing the hair completely or are you applying the smooth face CAS part that’s included? The Mouth Details slot (or Birthmark slot, depending on which version you’re using) has to have something worn on it in order for the automatic beards to stop applying. If you’re removing the beard shadow completely with the little X, then that will cause the slot to be empty and thus the beard shadow will reapply to it. You have to select the smooth face option or one of the scars/birthmarks and then the beard shadow will stop applying because the mod will see that the slot is already filled. As far as the colors go, I could probably release a version where only natural colors apply.

I know the whole point of this mod is to be automatic, but some Sims of mine I don't want to have this, and when removing it manually it comes back anyway, and plus it often picks the wrong color for fantasy hair colors that are not meant to match their facial hair. Is there any way to have one that isn't automatic so the Sims of mine I like it on I can keep it on without having to keep fixing others that shouldn't or keep getting incorrect colors?
simkatu
thank you very much!!

Fair enough lol. I've added an alternate Birthmark version for ya and anyone else who wants it: https://simfileshare.net/folder/230083/

I have a few personal CC items in there, yeah lol

Certainly possible. My Skin Details slots are loaded to the brim with random CC over the years, so I opted to use the Mouth Details slot since its newer and I don't have any CC for it. Do you use the Mouth Details slot a lot?
Intern Waffle
Would it be possible to make alternate options for which Skin Detail slot is used? Like a use-only-one-at-a-time thing? Something like the mole slot or the birthmark spot?
