hello! I lived in Nashville for four years in college but I’m from a rural area in TN. In the city every one is usually pretty chill, but it’s when you go outside the city where it’s more hateful (confederate monuments w hateful flags etc.). I also went to Nash pride this year and there was def a guy reading scripture on a mic outside 🤪 I think it’s really important to find a community where you feel safe and loved that way if/when you experience anything tough you don’t lose hope in humanity and you have a group of people who can support you! Overall Nashville is lovely and there are so many beautiful and amazing parts of southern culture that you’ll get to experience and love!! Excited for you!

As a gay female standup I can tell you you’ll be in a lot of rooms with the worst men around. But it’ll get better. Just remind yourself those fucking idiots get up there all the time and most of them are delusional in their confidence, blame the audience for not laughing etc. they are gonna be JEALOUS of you and hate you bc you came into this with a big social media following and a podcast with way more listeners than theirs. They don’t fuckin matter. Make fun of them. They’re just the dudes who run the open mic scene you’re gonna practice your stage presence on. Is there a queer comedy scene around you? In Philly we have a few groups/shows/regular open mics that cater to women queer or POC performers. Meaning they’re at the top of the mic list and the white dudes have to go last. Those shows are more fun when you need to practice your material.

I raise you the acadian accent which sounds like a southern trilled french. if you ever wanna hear it I def recommend the podcast HELPEZ-MOI it’s so funny. I find it more charming than the french accent since it’s authentic (french people sound fake at times)
