i dont really remember what in the pod this comment is referencing but i have insufferable reply guy tendencies so just popping in to say that i agree. "small," localized organizing is so important for generating the momentum necessary to accomplish nation-wide goals and major boycotts. in a country as big as the US, the only way to create a grassroots movement nationwide is for a ton of small, local grassroots movements to come together to create a larger movement, like the 1968 democratic convention protest. there were 5,000 protestors, but they were not all with one organization or group, but tons of grassroots groups all over the nation who joined together for one big cause on one particular day. or like the modern-day tenants unions! my city has one of the most successful tenants unions in the country and, sure, it's small and localized to my city, but there are TONS of cities with tennant unions across the nation who are starting to come together to make bigger plans for nationwide action. you have to start small and build up from there. same goes for boycotting, you gotta start somewhere

In my mind, short boycotts generate momentum and make people feel like they have the power to do stuff. You need to work up to more extreme and long term boycotts. Like come on. Small boycotts are inherently a little silly, but isn't it great that someone is doing something? Instead of just making a podcast? That was mean sorry.

im a lesbian but i went through an internalized homophobia phase after i got majorly hurt by a woman in my early 20s and i was hooking up with a bunch of random men, a lot of whom were in their late 30s-early 50s. one time a guy asked me to get on my knees on the floor and i was like ohhhhh we're gonna do some weird puppy or kitty shit or something but NOPE!!!! he told me to oink like a pig 😭😭 I am in therapy now and no longer hook up with men LMAO

I work in senior living and at one of our communities the director (who’s definitely closeted) entertains the residents by crossing dressing and performing various song covers every holiday. They eat it up.

yes! 55:08! i was listening to the maintenance phase podcast and one of the cohost was talking about how weird it is that we infantilize old people. it wasn’t until kay was talking about the nursing home that i really sat and thought about what it might be like for someone born in like 2070 to look at me in my old age and be like “aw, she’s so cute”.
