Omg I'm in the UK and in primary school they used to get us to pick the food we wanted for lunch a month in advance. So you'd get like 4 things for each day and you had to highlight what you wanted. One day, out of a list of stuff I don't like, I see one thing that I don't recognise. I just highlight that, ask no questions. That day comes and I'm handed a plate of nothing but coleslaw. Why a child asking for a plate of coleslaw didn't surprise anybody is beyond me, but thankfully I was like "Hey I'm gonna need a bit more than this" and they gave me toast instead lol

Akaline batteries (almost all household batteries except the button ones) are not very hazardous. I don’t worry about throwing akaline batteries away. It’s the lithium batteries (button and labeled lithium) that will cause fires if damaged enough. I work for an AZ city in solid waste and we actually have an entire facility to accept household hazardous materials.

I'm sure someone already commented it but at least where I live (texas) home depot will recycle batteries! I've also heard that putting them in something like a zip lock and then in the trash is a little safer

There is a service called Ridwell that takes all sorts of recyclables that are usually hard to recycle normally. Batteries, pill bottles, clothing, styrofoam, different types of plastics. They don't operate in a lot of places and it's also a monthly subscription thing. They leave a box at your doorstep and you put things in the bags and they'll come pick it up. I know it's not super accessible but if you're able to do it, it's easy and the stuff actually gets recycled.

This might just be personal bias because of my deep terror at the idea of being a housewife, but fridgescaping really feels like something you’d do as a trad wife that is literally trapped in the house with no creative outlet. Even if I became immortal I would never clear my to do list to the point that interior designing my fridge popped into my head!
