I don't think its wise to ignore the ex cannibals lol

luxrus

Acuity reflex what is the spec

Fernando Roman

What did she pick as her specialization for acuity expert?

Sgt. Tibs

Thank ya kindly *tips fancy hat*

Guri Linus

Something you mentioned about 100 chapters ago was that Gates became very expensive because The mana has to pass through a lot of rock. It might be worth it for her to make some gates that are on high places to reduce the cost due to the curvature of the Earth. I was actually expecting her to put a portal hub on the chalice to get the height she needs

Kiryln

My wonder is... When do the Yries get Tanks? Not Liberators, although the fact the liberators spit fire is cool, but like honest to god, Cannon type Main Battle Tanks? Because the idea of a tank crewed entirely by Yries is endlessly fascinating to think about for me.

StarWolf

Loved the chapter - but the following was painful. "with insane dexterity speed." Should be (with insanely dexterous speed.) Or "insane dexterity speed" could be (insane dexterity of speed)... But in a world with superhumans what does this even mean? What is insane dexterity of speed when a superhuman is involved?

Arlano

There were quiet expressions or relief. -> of relief

Guthan

I’m loving this arc. When do the enslaving race supremacist elves invade the continent? Or maybe it’s demons. I’ve been reading this fic since it had 30 chapters and I am excited to see where the story is heading. Hopefully big war and big numbers.

Emily Gurnavage

GOD do I love stories with a solid map included. I think we got some previously waaaay back like before Viv was Empress but an updated map of Param with all the changes and fresh New Harrak settlements and the new borders for the Steppes people and such would be awesome. I could prolly get close to drawing the Alagasia (Eragon) map from memory from how long I spent looking at it back in middle and high school lol.

Emily Gurnavage

Bird Tongue was only shown a handful of times, understandable you'd forget her. She was introduced when Viv first went to "The Remnants" where they met Arthur's brother and stuff. Bird-T was a slave to the cannibal tribals and was there when Rakan wiped out one of their settlements. She was the translator for the cannibal leader. Now im a little fuzzy, but I thiiink her actions there made Koro (the barbarian woman) take a liking to her and bring her back to New Harrak? Could be wrong on the ending part here. But yea, thats where she came from at least.

Sgt. Tibs

Probably for the best Lady Azar leaves. Now Viv doesn't have to handle Baran with kid gloves to placate her extremely useful civil servant. Honestly I figured we'd have to wait until she died before Viv put Baran in their place. Also yea Viv has way to many minions become I have no idea who Bird Tongue is lol. Lastly....wtf Lady Azar?! Making your daughter marry some 300 year old guy....with limited consent? Yikes. Says a lot about Erezak though. He already has heirs so basically he just wanted a young wife....creep.

pelya

She has Lim the Fell-handed.

Bum-Sama

Good Chappie.

Floris

Having a map for this chapter would be really handy.

Leviathon251

Thnx for the chapter!!

Christopher McCoin

My much less exciting theory is she may need to improve shield mastery to expert since it's a class skill. She could also need to "solidify" her path/aspect in the same way the gods have.

Senko

Balance sounds like it's headed towards civil war. That could be suitably evil empire and give Viv a new province

Senko

One of the hazards of long life you see so many places with fond memories swallowed up by time. Irao must be happy to see his people playing games.

Emily Gurnavage

@Dietz Then im just picturing Ariane from Journey, lol. The characters have enough similarities without Viv entering organized crime more than she previously has. Thankfully Viv is not quite so bloodthirsty or gruesome though - might have been a very different Empire. One where Viv embraced Solfis's constant desire for her to unlock Dictator and World Conquerer or whatever it was he kept bringing up near the beginning until she made it a real proper order I think in like Helock that he can't mention it anymore.

Clifton

I don't see it being much of a problem. Trains run on schedule (already an amazing achievement) with only occasionally misplaced cargo. Not to mention the regular and vigorous training of the next generation of Hadals. If they advance in their paths they'll be useful even if no one else has trains. Although, train gang paths might be entertaining.

Adurna

They probably need to help each other, right? Right?

RonGAR

@Denva Huh???? This sentence supposed to make sense? And What lie?

TargetDrone

hmmm no mention of any trade routes/relations with some dragons for culinary delights? fish sauce and stuff? :p

Krabby23

I think she just knows that they argue a lot about their chores, maybe keeps track of their schedule. So she yells to get them thinking about it and start the argument.

TargetDrone

do you want to drown the whole of new harrak? there are topics that cause rain, and then there are topics that sink continents... and i was privy to some twilight arguments between team werewolf and team vampy, and that definitely counts as a calamity class rain source :p

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Dietz

🤔 What a coincidence that the chapter on Patreon that implies Viv needs to accomplish some hidden criteria to advance as a True ascender comes out the same week as the chapter on RR where she became "one of two human True Ascenders alive." I've got a guess at what the condition is.~~

ItWasIDIO!!

Lak-tak talking that drugged up prophecy facts Eddie Murphy voice "What have you liberated lately"

Dietz

This. I can absolutely see Viv giving a Vetinari style speech about crime being impossible to stop, but she'd like it to be a bit more orderly.

Andrew K

I read it as Viv having guessed that at least one of the apprentices was (1) likely shirking in their tea-making duties and (2) would react to an accusation of such by attacking the premise that she should even have to make tea (rather than directly denying the accusation). Viv then made the accusation in a manner that was calculated to make another apprentice feel specifically wronged by this to take up the accusing side of the argument without Viv having to do anything else. Her ability to do this is presumably based on a high level of familiarity with those involved - Solar's behavior and the apprentices' reaction to seeing her suggests she does things like this a lot, and has put some effort into knowing them all well enough to do things like this (which makes sense as an imperial priority given how important adequate rainfall is, not to mention how entertaining it probably is).

ItWasIDIO!!

You're telling me you have Hadal train gangs but couldn't find or make a criminal kingpin under your thumb to curtail crime... for shame Viv

Denva

It was never mentioned that the azure lady hasn't put her people on land. Why are you angry at your own lie?

Simon Casey

I don’t think she mistook Viv’s voice for that of someone nearby. I think Viv just accurately guessed (or spies told her?) that someone was skimping on their chores, and her bringing that up caused a fight.

Manlor

Is the world ready for Hadal train gangs?

Kennyevilmonkey

She needs to introduce those witches to some books they can fight over. Like Twilight. Get them fighting over team werewolf and team vampire. Should get plenty of rain out of that one.

Emily Gurnavage

Loved the chapter, cept for one confusing part. When Viv gets the rain-witches to argue somehow - that whole lil section makes no sense to me. I re read it like 6 or 7 times but it just makes so little sense I dont even understand the original intention there. The apprentices recognize Viv from the train, they pale when they see her. So they know she starts fights there. But then Viv yells about tea inside the train, and one of the apprentices *that know Viv is there* somehow mistake Vivs far away and muffled voice for the other apprentice standing right next to them? How? She thinks the other girl said the tea comments? It makes no sense. Viv is inside a loud train far away and with a completely different voice.

Emily Gurnavage

Its a problem somewhat, but its not banditry since the "stolen" goods are all still eventually delivered. Just not always to the correct destination, which causes delays. The Hadals arent re-selling the goods or keeping them for themselves. That other train will now deliver the silver ingots with its other goods and Vivs train reported the loss so it gets added to that other trains inventory. I guess the real problem is if they are only going after stuff owned by the Empire, or private trading groups. Idk who all uses the trains yet vs what Viv imagines for the future. Right this second, idk whose products are all able to catch a ride. If its just the Empire, the mixing up of goods between trains is only a problem if Viv decides it is one. If its private merchant goods, then yea, Viv needs to make that stop because those merchants paid for goods to be delivered and not to be fucked with and delivered late because it got "stolen" 3 different times lol. . Maybe Viv thinks itll be useful in the future to have the next generation of Hadals be used to train assaults for when trains become much more widespread? . Maybe during the time skip and with all the new Hadals/half-Hadals growing up, this was one of the less disruptive ways to handle them? It must be a challenge to handle teenagers/young adults who can turn invisible and move silently and all the stuff they can do. These train gangs at least sound somewhat regulated/watched, vs if those young adults formed *actual* criminal gangs in the cities or something. . Idk though. Yea. Its a weird situation. It fits an empire ran by Viv, but it does have a lot of cons to allowing it to continue lol. Im sure Lady Azar had words to say about it already.

Emily Gurnavage

It does, but its also a challenge to properly handle big time skips in a story with so many moving parts and aspects of the world and empire us readers all want details on. I dont think its ending just yet. Giver the Ascender path stuff I dont think the story is gonna end until Viv is a Goddess of some sort.

Kota

Man I forgot how unsettlingly creepy Lak-Tak can be.

Robert Sutherland

This feels like chapter two of a ten chapter epilogue :(

Jackjargon

So wonderful to see how everyone has settles in! Love the train wars good to see the hedals get some enrichment!

Jackjargon

Were so proud of our boy 🇨🇦

StarWolf

Good chapter - some of the transitions are a bit rough, but I get that your trying to do some time jumps and get past the peaceful growth times... to more... exciting times. Looking forward to the upcoming chapters. issues I noticed: constant source of distractio(n) for A bit over two thousand souls CLUNG to the thin fertile patch

lenkite

"The place was a bit too dirty for her tastes as well now." Maybe Viv needs to push a [Cleanliness Is Godliness] drive.

Red Viking

Arranging arguments to initiate irrigation. Nice.

InLucidReverie

"souls clinged to" clung

FuriousDee

The other countries probably still have more mages than Harrak so won’t notice the costs for longer

FuriousDee

There aren’t levels in this story you get progression for doing class aligned acts not just killing things.

RonGAR

Nice take on the Orphan girl. #NodNodNod

Jeanean

Ah, yes, solving water shortage via state-sponsored debate-club. Thats the kind of nonsense more fantasy stories should have XD

RonGAR

The first shock was finding out she was 'STILL' on her 4th Step going to the 5th step. I could have bet my house, I've read in passing she was a 5th Step, going to 6th step. Does anyone else remember her already being at the 5th step? or is it just me? ------------- Looks like the dragons have already made their picks. The Shy girl for the first. Viv for the second, and Solar for the 3rd. LOL Looks like the "Children of the Scale'' didn't get one of their own, huh? Well, maybe in the next batch or is it 'clutch'. Well, whatever the dragon nesting term is. ---------- Hadal's and Train wars. LOLOLOL LOOOVVVEEE IT! I found that whole Mad Max situation, Hilarious! Imagine it. You're sitting there quietly while Hadal shadows battle over you while they try to take/protect your train. And the only real threat is, if your guys lose, your pockets will become lighter, and some of your most precious cargo, will be seen floating away on a cloud of shadow. LOLOLOL --------- Wow, Viv is a Blademaster Expert 2? Wow wow wow. I guess she is going to need it for her mage fights. A little something extra that most if not all the other caster won't have. -------- That Blue Azure lady STILL didn't find a way to make landfall and offload her starving ppl??? It's been 15 years! smh --------- Damn... I understand her position, but it is still hard to see Lady Azur go. She really was living up to her dream and path, keeping the kingdom stable! It was a massive loss for VIv and New Harrak as well as for Lady Azar. What other King or Emperor can she walk up to and go "Listen here you little shit..." LOLOL She is going to miss that. LOL. And if Viv is going to be honest, So is she! ----------- Damn, that Baranese spy...smh Gale Wind, should've eaten him. Because you know he has been doing nothing but 'spinning news' and creating propaganda against New Harrak. ----------- New Harrak has, Baran, Helock, Luten, and possibly Glastia against it. Is this what Judgement Foreseen? The reason why she will need the Magic Core? --------- This pull of fate away from her Country for a few years seems to come at a very dangerous time. SMH. I don't like it. -------- And for GOD SAKES, LVL up ALREADY! 5th or 6th Just do the damn thing. SMH. What's the big difference at this point? What? Does she get a new spell? Big whoop. She should've gotten a lvl just for killing that 6th Step Archmage that had her in captivity just because he was 3 levels higher than herself when she did it. ------ Till next time, thanks for the chapter.

Cormac

The hadals have gone beyond funny and annoying to genuinely a problem. What they are doing with the trains is literal banditry. Viv needs to stop it.

David

Incredible chapter! The part with the adal train gang was so unexpected, it make me laught quite a bit :)

Dipped In Butter

I absolutely love the idea that young Hadals used the trains as roaming clan headquarters used for training and competition

Reminder

Eu4 reference spotted

sebsebs

It's so nice to see that the Empire building is going well and the minions are thriving, New Harrak really has its own identity that inspires even me from behind my screen haha. Thanks for the chapter, it really helped cement the timeskips. Arthur feels more mature now, Lak-Tak pivoted to being a prophet and the Hadal train gangs made me laugh out loud (nice to see the new generations of Hadal being happy!). Still missing The Golem and the mages and Rollo and Abe but yeah the family is getting quite big now. Excited for what comes next more than ever! :) PS: that orphan girl with the White Terror is suspicioulsy looking like a Chosen One type of hero : no parents (= maybe amazing parents), mysterious powers (= chosen by a dragon), lowly origins and a hidden mentor (= weak to strong path open). She's only missing a motive, something to drive her against the Evil Empire... but she won't get that, quite the opposite I hope! It would be a nice twist that totally fits Vivland

Sæþór

Honestly I would love a mod for this universe in EU4, in the same style as anbennar

Sæþór

Tftc!

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

Tsorov

Lak-Tak, a Canadian in another world

Synod

Bahaha this is not the reference I was expecting

Dont_like_to_Talk

Thanks for the chapter

Anonymonous

That's interesting. I was wondering what word was meant to be and your explanation makes sense, though my guess might still be correct as the next line describes that visage."The titanic building dug into the side of the mountain, a gaping maw as dark and unplumbable as a modern state’s budget deficit"

Young Youghurt

Viv be like: Comet sighted It's an omen! The end is nigh! The economy, fools! I wish I lived in more enlightened times... If only we had comet sense... Oh Comet, devil's kith and kin...

Desert Yeti

Lak-Tak. The only person who sees the Geneva Convention's war crimes section as a to-do list.

KnightRider007

A nice little “state of the empire” summary

Max

It should be a huge red flag for the other kingdoms, that harrak, the inventors of portals are reducing their reliance on them

Andrew

Thank you!

KnightRider007

“Seat”, in this case, I think. “Siège” means seat in French, it’s a faux-amis.

BelligerentGnu

Well, that definitely helps a lot with re-situating us in the state of things.

Anonymonous

Correction Princesses *vie* for the throne

Elaine

good chappie

"Abe and XXXX worked hard together with guards to keep things under control, but it was an uphill battle." Is this a placeholder that didn't get replaced, or am I forgetting someone?

Anonymonous

Correction Majestic *visage* of the golden scale...

PickledTink

Thanks for the chapter. Also, a heads up: As of the time of this message, you still haven't given the poor people of royal road their chapter for the week.

Hunter8k

Dunno how I got this, but i got this, so thanks

Szelanaya

Tanks again for the chapter Meca <3
