Metroid Dread: The Biased Review of a Casual Scrub
🕑 Added 2021-10-29 19:58:12 +0000 UTCIf it's not clear from the video, I was very happy with this game and most of the criticisms are just mild nitpicks (that no one agrees with! Fight me!). I look forward to reviewing a Metroid game again in eight years when Prime 4 is finally done.
The next video is a review the Switch N64 controller, which I was lucky enough to snag in the last restocking. People didn't like that the SNES controller video didn't have any comparisons, so I also bought the brand new brawler64 revision and the raphnet USB adapter for original controllers. I'll also speak at length about the oven mitt and how it impacts controller performance:
A lot of people are asking for a video about the N64 Expansion service itself but I did not subscribe to the service and frankly don't want to give Nintendo money for it.
The plan for now is that at the end of the controller review I'll mention the controversy over its emulation quality and show a collection of all the bugs that have been reported by speedrunners and streamers so far and comment on how SMART and RIGHT I've been all along, and also handsome.
This will not be a review because I'll have had no direct experience with the service. It will just be an impression of how the service seems to have turned out vs my expectations of what it would be.
If you'd strongly prefer a dedicated review video on the service then I could use some of your funds to subscribe but I'm not sure how much I could say that hasn't already been said by the gaming community, or even in my own past videos. Let me know what you think in the comments and I'll do as the majority wants.
Beyond the controller video, the Resident Evil 4 HD project seems to be very near release and I would love to do a video talking about the project and its history. If it releases within the next two weeks then you can expect that to be the second video in line.
Thanks again for your support- all of these controllers, adapters, and photography accessories are surprisingly expensive and the funding makes it much easier to put together a decent video. Have a happy Halloween!

As a lot of other people have said, I would like to see your opinion on the expansion. But I can't support you giving Nintendo money for something like this.

Don't upgrade the online subscription. It's just another disappointing emulator, and giving them money for it (even if just for the review) doesn't sit well with me...

I think it's totally fine to skip making a dedicated video about the switch n64 games. I'd be interested in your perspective on the bugs as viewed from others but I actually think it's kind of important to not give them the money to send the signal

I'd love to try it but I have no VR setup. It's kind of a mess right now with a lot of games locked to one headset or the other... Maybe once a few more games like RE4 or Alyx are out I'll get into it

If you can get a full family group with 7 others it comes down to $10/year which is a pretty good value even considering the low quality on offer. The trouble is getting a full group of 8 with an admin you trust, and finagling money owed among everyone.

OSW Review
I would like you to get the NSO service so you can get a first hand experience from it (even if it's v likely your opinions already won't change) but it's nice to validate it. Also as an actual Metroid scrub, Goddamn Dread is so hard. Getting smashed by the first boss ten times until I can learn and get lucky enough to scrape by on attempt number 11 doesn't fill me with pride and accomplishment!

I'd really like to see a review of the NSO N64 service. The more honest takes on it, the more companies will need to listen. More people look up to you for that sort of thing than you'd think, and your sacrifice in subscribing to it WILL help others better decide what is best for them. Piracy exists when services are not good enough. In this case, I think NSO N64 is not enough, but your voice speaks louder. I'll pay the whole subscription for you just by myself if that is what you need. Hit me up. Keep it up!
Yeah I say don't bother subscribing to that garbage, not worth sending ninty a message that the service was even good enough to try.
