You can see how sad Stefan looked while he was watching Klaus desiccate. I think Stefan has a feeling of hatred towards him, but under all that I think he actually cares for Klaus and doesn't want to see him dead.

I think damon genuinely cares about most of the main characters except tyler ð and i dont think he saves them out of self interest because most of the time when he has to choose, he doesnt care about how elena feels when he is making decisions and if it was pure self interest, he would act in favor of tyler too
