i think ranked team games with random lobbies is a mistake and can almost never end well almost regardless of how well you design your game to encourage good team play. i’ve heard that some games are way better at it then others, but there will almost always be a lot of toxicity when the outcome of your game depends on strangers being cooperative. (the specific counterexample i’ve heard of is a game where, after the game, you can reward your teammates for good teamwork and that reward gives you more XP per game, so players are very strongly incentivized to try to get that reward)

What are these “ranked online games” of which you speak? I play chess online and that’s ranked but that’s about it.

Honestly why I avoid most online games. I think the only true like online game I play is Fortnite and that’s mostly because funny Characters and Dances, but even then, I only ever do Solo.
