Pick YOUR Carrier and Help Me Decide
🕑 Added 2021-05-13 19:48:05 +0000 UTCHey,
In the upcoming episode on the Battle of Midway, my 'Task force' counters could use an update! As you can see in the picture below, the work in process icons for the US fleet already features a USN Yorktown-class carrier but the Imperial Japanese Navy has a placeholder (same Yorktown class).

Since there were four different ships used by the Japanese at Midway, help me decide which one I should use to depict the 1st & 2nd Carrier Division!
What ship would you choose? The winning CV makes it into the video :)

Could you maybe address why they thought it necessary to slope the flight deck half way?

Akagi it is!

I suppose the Akagi makes sense, but I chose the Kaga because it carried the most aircraft of the four. Also, it had a similar appearance to Akagi, so you really can't go wrong with either. I would argue that Soryu was the most attractive of the four, though.

Looks like it will be Akagi as the flagship. Makes the most sense for this one

Getting similar comments from the folks in Discord, Akagi (as the flagship) is just 'the' Japanese carrier for Midway
Military Aviation History
Hah, that's one way of looking at it :)

Pick 'em - any way you're gonna be swimming - but i guess the Akagi gives you some small bragging rights for not being technically sunk by the enemy, but rather by your own navy lol

All interest me but VT 8 is too heroic to pass up.

Akagi not only was the flagship (until its timely demise), but it also looks the most iconic to me.
I'm going to go with Hiryu as it survived the longest of the 4
I would've chosen Hiryu on looks alone, but flagship makes more sense.

Very sensible approach to this question!

Akagi, the flagship. Runner up, Hiryu, the last.
Julian Corbett
Has to be the Akagi, she was Nagumos' flagship, so should be the representation of the whole task force
