FF branding
🕑 Added 2023-01-19 17:53:26 +0000 UTCHey there,
There has been some chat about not loving the recent stamped FF branding on the models. In the past a couple of people said they wanted it, but recently some are saying to ditch it.
I started doing it because there seems to be a lot of copycats lately, and I wanted to distinguish my models as authentic Flexi Factory designs.
Honestly I can go either way, so I decided to go with the consensus.

Absolutely keep it in order to reduce the amount of copycats/stolen STL files out there.

I hope you ditch it in my opinion it adds nothing to the model and only detracts from it. As others have pointed out it would only take seconds for someone to remove the stamp.

I haven't really seen that many copies out there that are as good as the original files. I would help when people decide what is the original vs the fake

Honestly the copy cats will just remove your info anyway so it would save you the time appling it in my opinion
Hey :) I voted "ditch it!" and it's not like I would stop my suport because of the logo, but in the long run it's problematic. Some client's like "clean" not branded stuff (so those sales are probably lost) and where the logo should be for example: on a T-Rex ? It's destroys the beauty of the model in this case... In summary: it makes some sales and logo placement on some models harder. Maybe there is some other way that no one thought of before ? :)

Yes, understood.

Bare in mind when making your decision that you've got over 2000+ patrons that is still over 500 that don't agree its not like its only a couple of people saying they don't like it nor want it . Thanks Dan

My only issue would be placement on print, as long as it wasn't too intricate as to cause issue with initial layer/s. Once again Dan has nailed it again, the current FF looks perfect.

My only concern with the FF was on the standing heart. It was in a different color. I just want to make sure it's the same as the surrounding color so there isn't additional filament switching when using a 3MF file.

maybe there is a way to embed the logo inside the entire model, a place where copycats wouldnt realize its there, but you would know if you preview the slice and look during the "hidden" layers, that would tell you for sure if your work is stolen, but also appease the merchant backers
As others have noted, from a commercial perspective, some of the customers buying a print might not want the FF on a printed figure or wonder it is means.
