I use the Unni scale as it has two platforms; one for small grams and one for the heavier weights. It was less money at the time than the OXO. One thing that surprises me though is how different sites convert a cup of flour in different grams. I just shrug and use what they say. I get wildly different measurements without using weights. Also I’ve noticed there is a difference depending on how old my flour is and the weather. I usually buy 10km of flour, twice a year so there is a change.

First and always, thank you. As a radio host (KAOS-fm in Olympia), a good conversational style makes me happy. And- you're actually funny when you're being funny - trust me, many aren't. That said, "quidditch" levels of silly?? I'll see your quidditch and raise you a "Fizzbin" ... Fizzbin rules make the Monty Python "buying a mattress" sketch look lucid. (yes, I'm old.) ever grateful for your presence, John Ford

I bought the Escali Primo Digital Food Scale on Brian Lagerstrom's recommendation and love it.

I bet we have the same old OXO scale... We've had ours about a decade too. We weigh our guinea pigs in grams too, because it's a finer scale than ounces. "Why use metric units? What’s wrong with my good ol’ freedom units?" Minor quibble here... While volumetric measurements (cups/tsp/tbsp) can't be used in baker's percentages, weight measurements (ozs) can.
