I love this whole concept. I remeber a scene depicted like this in Hellboy: The Storm and The Fury, when the dead witches of England drag Nimue down to Hell. The quadrupedal space jockey reminds me of Axiom Verge.

I’ve seen this debated many times. In the hard canon it seems we have to believe the Engineers and the Space Jockey are one in the same but I don't rule out the possibility that once Ridley leaves alien some kind of retcon can be made to reintroduce the giant elephantine being as a separate entity (I would not be opposed to this). The engineer aesthetic has grown on me but the universe seems so small now; humans are related to everything. The alien is barely alien.

I sincerely apologize if this has been asked before, but: what's your stance on the Jockey/Engineer thing? Do you see them as separate species or different "variants" of the same species (I say "variants" because the Space Jockey in Alien is obviously much bigger than the Engineers and appears to have biological features that the Engineers use aesthetically)?
