Well killing superiour officers has always been a problem. (Fraging- often as no one can tell whos granade (frag) killed them) here it would be unusual as most officers have magic shields, emporment and if legions are based on rome then harsh punishment (decimation). Plus most officers are nobles so they cannot allow anyone to threaten them.... especially commoner with more magic then them-nobles who probably marry to strenghten their magic

I’m glad the issue is being raised now and we’re not left waiting for the other shoe to drop for a hundred chapters. I also think it’s kind of funny that Martel has been in the military for more than two days and doesn’t see his killing of a superior officer as a serious problem. I do wonder if Martel having 600 soldiers who know they owe him their life might increase tensions when they discover he’s been arrested. Particularly when he killed the guy who would’ve had them all fight an unwinnable battle to the death. I’m also wondering if morale/the possibility of revolt might factor in to his judgement. Edit: This chapter does somewhat answer a question I had about whether Eleanor would be court martialed alongside Martel
