I was born minutes from the site, I'd love to be a reserve volunteer!
Belgarion V
Just saw this, gutted! I work opposite at Adastral Park and would love to help out if there’s any drop outs
G
How many people on here, who know they can’t possibly go, opened the application just to see what it’s like….
G
I hope there’s no paperwork blocking participants from sharing online :( It will be fantastic for Time Team! ! Please someone know this.
G
One of you winners better do a vlog. Pls
Michelle Cailes
OMGoodness. Just watching the Sutton Hoo Ship Building show. It’s so very lovely to see and hear the dulcet tones of Tony Robinson’s voice. He really is Time Team.
Bob Blaskiewicz
This is going to be bonkers. Can't wait to see the dig.
Jamie Goodman
What an amazing opportunity for those who got picked 👏🏻 Maybe next time eh? Being less than an hour away I'm planning to visit during that week anyway to see the site. SH is being dug for most of June, so will hopefully get the chance to find out what's been happening and and how the dig is progressing. Exciting stuff! ⚒️
Lynn O'Leary
I also wanted to be there. What a remarkable opportunity and how thoughtful that they offered such an experience. Maybe next time.
Patricia Amero
Good luck, everyone 🤞
Stevie Moore
hi does anyone know if the volunteer have been picked yet .. i do hope i put in my correct email :)
Catherine Anderson
I would have loved to at least submit an application for this great opportunity. I have been dealing with a health issue that is now resolving itself. I hope to be considered for future volunteer opportunities.
Lauren
I will also keep checking in case something comes up. I am glad to know I wasn’t the only one refreshing constantly in the hopes I would be picked. What a wonderful community Time Team fans are!
Lauren
I am very disappointed that I wasn’t chosen but will be there in spirit and can’t wait to see the episode.
Amethyst Gray
Yes, same here. I could still jump into a spot if given a late chance...
Mechanical Muse
Thanks for the update Time Team! I'm disappointed but appreciate it. Although I'll admit I'll probably keep checking just in case you need a backup! :) Congrats to everyone who go a spot!!
Jessicka Catherine
Will still keeping checking my email in case someone cancels 😎
Amethyst Gray
Thanks. Unless it went into spam and I accidentally deleted it I wasn't successful. But hopefully you will give us all the opportunity again another time!
Time Team
Hi, thanks for the interest. We have now made contact with successful applicants. We appreciate how keen you are to join the dig, and apologies to all who haven't been selected on this occasion. Please do look out for future opportunities, and if any additional places do become available we will let individuals know. Thanks
Amethyst Gray
I am doing the same. I guess it means I/we have been unsuccessful :(, but I am always paranoid it may have gone into spam and I have deleted it. So I am following your question just in case it is running late due to numbers...
Mechanical Muse
Will you tell us once you've done the drawing so we know when to stop refreshing our email?
Matt
Would have loved to volunteered for this but joined as a member to late, being a Norfolk boy, I would be available as a reservist if needed.. 😀
Patricia Amero
now THAT'S dedication... I'm praying for sunny skies & happy smiles for everyone on site... extra hot coffee for the tarp townies 🤞
Jessie Doherty
Yep! Same here! I’ll figure it out somehow! Getting the flights shouldn’t be an issue. I’d show up with a travel bag and go buy a tarp if I have to!
Patricia Amero
They mentioned "Successful applicants will be notified in the next couple of days. Keep checking your emails and good luck!" in the comment section. Exciting times !! 😁
Mick Holden
They said, "in the next couple of days." Waiting is the hardest part, right?
Patricia Amero
Have toothbrush... willing to work the finds tent 😂
Mick Holden
Thank you! It was an amazing experience. My goal was to learn as much as possible so I could come back and volunteer in the US. If you ever get a chance to join one of the DV digs - even if only for a few days, I highly recommend it!
Daniel Imhoff
Did they say when folks would be notified?
Time Team
Nationals of most countries should be able to visit the UK as a tourist/short term visitor without requiring a work visa. We recommend all travellers seek their own independent advice if unsure about your own territory. Thanks
Patricia Amero
I'm a member of DV as well 😊 but I've never been able to attend one of their digs. You have a TT Trowel? I'm so jealous... they sell out so quickly. I hope you get on Sutton Hoo 🤞🤞
Patricia Amero
🥳 I can't do Sutton Hoo, but ... I'll be sporting a Time Team Wax Field Jacket & awesome T-shirt for the rest of eternity! Yes, I went for it & ordered both from the TT Store ... tons of fantastic things it was hard to hold back. If you haven't checked out the store lately, now's a good time! That was fun, 😁 Cheers! PS- loads of really great BOOKS too !!
Mick Holden
No, as a volunteer, you don't need a visa - just your passport. I volunteered with Dig Ventures for their three week field school last year - no visa was required. (I was even able to use my Time Team trowel!)
Mick Holden
Have trowel...will travel😄.
Patricia Amero
I wonder if you don't need a work Visa because you aren't receiving payment & it's a short-term volunteer position. If Time Team hired you & was paying you a salary then I think you'd need a work Visa. IMO
Twinkle
They have not. According to the internet, we probably do. Unless this counts as educational research?
Mechanical Muse
So excited. I'm just going to sit here refreshing my email.
Jessie Doherty
Have they announced winners? Would we need a work visa coming from USA?
Twinkle
Form sent but slightly concerned about needing a work visa coming from the USA. 😱
Justin Freeman
*nervous waiting noises*
Time Team
Successful applicants will be notified in the next couple of days. Keep checking your emails and good luck!
Richard Seaton
me too... wonder when they'll let us know!?
Mick Holden
Thank you for giving us a chance to be part of this amazing site's story!
Jessie Doherty
Same here! I won’t be able to concentrate at work today! I’ll be checking my email constantly!
Richard Seaton
good luck! :)
Time Team
Hi, once you've completed the form, you should see a notice on screen acknowledging receipt.
Amethyst Gray
Form sent, so my fingers are crossed!
Whitby Solo
Is a confirmation of the Google From submission sent?
Patricia Amero
Just being asked means the world to me. My 15 minutes of almost fame 🤩
Patricia Amero
me too, but we can still keep each other company & stay up to date on here 😁
Maria
Would love to do this one day at a dig near me 🙏
Erica Long
Can't make it, but love that you are providing this opportunity!
Wessex-Wyvern
Ohhh, I so wish... But I'm too far away and cannot travel 😢
Ian mac
Have volunteered for Sutton boo be great to be part of the team
Time Team
Hi Jim, Sutton Hoo will be open as normal to visitors throughout June during our dig, and so you'll be able to explore the usual areas open to the public and see what we're up to! Some parts of the excavation may have restricted access. Visit the official National Trust website for Sutton Hoo for more details on opening times and other info. We have lots of exciting things planned for our members and wider fans to keep in touch with the dig as it unfolds, wherever you are in the world. Look out for more details very soon.
Jim
Is it possible to visit the dig at other times? I can't volunteer but it would be great to visit.
Justin Freeman
🤞🏼
