The character writing in Frieren is the best I've ever seen. I have never been so attached to fictional characters the way I am to Frieren, Fern and Stark. I think one reason there is only 10 episodes is that if there was 28 it would get very near to the end of he published manga, which keeps going on hiatus due to the health of the author and illustrator. That might mean that there might be a 2 or 3 year wait until there's enough material for a third season. I think they're having to space it out.

Stark is faster at running than Frieren and Fern (without magic), that's why he carries them. As a warrior, Stark can carry them easily and keep running fast. It's not important anyway, but I wanted to clarify haha

There were a lot of anime-original scenes, like Fern looking at and holding onto the bracelet Stark gave her in a scary moment being chased by a monster where she doesn’t have magic to rely on. The team making the show really understand the assignment

The beginning conversation isn’t the only bad part. There’s a good chance that this may be the last Frieren we get until 2029-2030, because the animation producer is going to make an original anime movie called “ghost,” and typically they take their talent and animators with them on their projects. Of course, its not 100% confirmed that means no more Frieren until “ghost” is done, but it is typically how the industry operates

They stretched the stories a bit. The beginning scene and the ending scene are anime original. If they wanted, they could have adapted 3 stories. But to be honest, I kinda hope that they stretch the third story to a whole episode. They could put in some hints about lore and story we will get later. I'm very excited about that.

To be fair, Season 2 still could have 22 episodes and a movie 2 years later. Also the next arc after the potential movie has enough content for 12 episodes. They still have enough content for many years. The 10 episodes seems more like a "we need to push Frieren more" moment. It's understandable because Frieren got fucking big after Season 1. Merchandise, view numbers and sales skyrocketed. Still disappointing because the 12 episode long arc is so incredibly good. I think we are currently at 60% of Frieren's story in the manga.

Was this first episode mixed with lots of anime-only stuff that didn't happen in the manga? Or even was the whole episode anime-only? It kind of felt like it it, but not in a bad way. Best anime-only episode I've seen in a while, if so.

Hiakyu was not after Frieren they ran at the same time for a bit. That's where Friekyu Fridays came from. You still had a good bit of Haikyu to finish after Frieren ended, I think it was just season 4.

this show is literally my everything😭 a friend of mine had recommended the manga to me ages ago back in like 2021/22 but he described it as something that would make me cry a lot, so thought it’d be very depressing and put it off for reading. then the anime came out and i still didnt watch it immediately even though it had taken the entire community by storm. i think around 18 episodes had released when i finally decided to watch it and it absolutely captured my heart in a way only one other show has. Frieren & Mob are now two halves of my ❤️ I love many shows but these two are so special to me for their kindness & loving messages.

Frieren is all "That was scary" and she's smiling the whole time lol What a great re-introduction episode. There's really no flaw I can say about this adaptation, they elevate this series in pretty much every area.

Man I wish I could enjoy this anime like y’all but I just can’t lol idk what it is about it that doesn’t resonate with me or find interesting. I did my best to gave it a fair chance but is like.. idk.. is hard to explain but it feels very artificial. That’s the best word to describe how I feel about this anime. Anyways see y’all for Pluto.

I completely agree with your feelings. All the fans have just been discussing, whether we'll get 22 episodes + movie or 28 episodes. Only 10 episodes doesn't make sense. You'll understand that, because after episode 9 & 10 you will feel uncomplete, and then we'll have to wait until 2028/2029 to see how it continues, because the animation director and his team are already booked for another project. That's really disappointing. At least those 10 episodes will have some great moments. My prediction is that episode 3 or 4 OR 6 or 7 (he he, six-seven) will be your favorite episode this season. Depends how they will adapt the chapters. Let's just enjoy the ride :D

Unfortunately the manga is currently on hiatus indefinitely due to the author’s poor health :/ with one more full season the anime would be almost caught up with the source material, so im sure thats why we are only getting 10 episodes. Sadly the real disturbing trend is the poor overworking of these creators. The Frieren manga has taken multiple hiatus’ due to the author’s health and the anime director left the project citing exhaustion. We have seen it for this series, One Piece, JJK, and even this week Bochii’s author announced a hiatus due to poor health. If there was one thing i wish i could change about the anime/manga industry is to give these creators time to complete their art without literally working themselves into poor health 😭

Yoooo, I haven’t watched it yet but I just seen yesterday that the artist who drew the color pencil animation is the same artist who worked on the color pencil animation for the Kuma flashback in One Piece. That looked so good in One Piece, it was one of the best episodes out of all 1100 plus, stoked to check this out now.
