Your results of 3 ozt silver (0.86 mols) fully dissolving in 80 mL azeotropic nitric (1.256 mols) seem consistent with the cold dissolution equations even without NOx recycling though: 3Ag + 4HNO3 (cold and diluted) = 3AgNO3 + 2H2O + NO vs Ag + 2HNO3 (hot and concentrated) = AgNO3 + H2O + NO2

In dissolving silver I've used a funnel full of wet marbles to recycle those NOx back into nitric acid.
