The Penultimate ep has some stuff that we really like but a few things that REALLY MESS WITH US!
What does this show have against Octopuses?
Why are we SA-ing Hughie for the 2nd straight episode?
How in the actual fuck are we robbing one of the precious few nice scenes of this increasingly joyless and gross-for-grosses sake show?
We struggle with this one for sure, but their still some good stuff with MM, A-Train, and Ryan, but this as obtuse as we've ever been with this Season!

I am not against gore and gross stuff but...and I think I said this on the last episode. I almost couldn't watch the scenes. The scene with Webweaver defecating everywhere was just way too much. And the shape shifter ripping their outer layer off would have been better if they scaled that back to just a few shots of the process. Nope, we got to see the whole thing!

right, if the Ryan relationship was built a bit better we could sell it that Ryan is holding his relationship or atleast just straight up "cooperation" with Vought over his head, in the same way with Nueman. I wonder if this is super thin due to the writers strike?

Yeah, these last few episodes really make me think of a thing that OSP Red likes to call "Schrödingers Writing" because this upcoming last episode of the season could maybe gives us some real good stuff for all the bullshit we had to endure recently (live cat) or it could just make the stuff that's currently bad even worse (dead cat) - and I'm really worried about getting a dead cat here... Like, there are so many things hanging in the air right now that they could very easily fuck up in the finale - stuff like killing off MM or A-Train or not treating the things that happened to Hughie right (just thinking of a similar thing from Buffy that didn't handle the shapeshifter thing very well..) or having the Deep and Sage arcs end unfulfillingly etc. would make this season so much worse imho... I'm just thinking back to 3x8 where I was so goddamn glad about Maeve surviving and I just fucking hope that whoever made that decision then was also in charge of 4x8, because right now I'm kinda anxious about the trust fall with the writing at this point in time...

Frenchie sleeps with a man after he killed his whole family, Homelander has super senses but somehow loses track people in a mansion and doesn’t know his enemies are there too. The octopus knows how Sage smells. I know the last one was comedic but to me it’s still bad writing.

This season has been a lot of fun but the writing has been pretty awful at the same time 😂. The deep and the new Noir easily broke into the boys HQ. That means Homelander could kill them anytime but for some reason never does. Homelander tells Ryan he doesn’t want to force him to do anything two episodes ago. Now this episode just reset that whole development.
