Chipping away at the exterior!

For example, the rusty base coat was post-shaded a little more, and I also added some extra texture with speckling and random application of Lifecolor rust acrylics. The worn green paint on the cabin also has another layer of worn white and olive green. I observed the white patches in the reference images, and the subtle green hints (barely visible) are a base layer for moss accumulations.
So far the finish is just the result of hairspray chipping, airbrushed rust effects mixed from Tamiya Hull Red and Flat Yellow, and a dark enamel pin wash. Next up I'd like to finish the paint job with dust, dirt, moss, grime, rust streaks, and dark rusty dry-brushing over the exposed edges :) And, of course, bird droppings on the roof!
In other news, I went to the Moson Model Show on Saturday to see the models and people. It wasn't a trip I planned for months in advance, and I didn't even realize that I should let you know. Still, it was so cool to meet some of you in person! I didn't sleep much the night before, so I was pretty much half asleep in the afternoon, but trust me, it was an honor to shake hands and take a picture with everyone!
This leads me to an idea, if everything goes well and I get to visit Moson next year, we should meet somewhere for a moment!

Now that you mention it... an H0 scale locomotive doesn't sound like such a bad idea... :D
