Thanks for sharing! Yes, that all sounds right. If you'd just published the paper, I think the situation would have been a bit like Wozniak publishing his master's thesis and leaving it at that. Not enough influence. I think that a paper alone (without a usable system) is probably only adequate if the author is positioned very well in a robust network (as in my Sutherland example).

I think the most production-ready option is LearnItFast: https://learnitfast.io

I am currently making use of Orbit and am glad it exists. I know it's not your ideal learning system. Hypothetically if you hadn't made orbit, what would you advise me to do if I wanted to incorporate your ideas into my resources?

Here is my thoughts after reading this post and https://gwern.net/on-really-trying It's hard to get others to pursue your idea if you haven't proven it's pursuable. Unfortunately, the best proof is committing it by yourself. Here is my story: There are a lot of spaced repetition algorithms proposed in papers and Anki's subreddit. When I introduced my paper in r/Anki, a guy said it's "Things that sound cool on paper and then nobody actually implements them". I got angry and implemented FSRS. Then the guy became my cooperator, and contributed a lot. If I didn't implement FSRS by myself, it's unlikely someone pursue it.
