I wouldn't mind the Alien franchise, except that I'd put out a call for the theatrical version of Aliens, if we go that route. People always freak out and demand the special edition, but there are good reasons to watch the theatrical first (not instead, you drama queens, just first)--you can always watch the special edition after the theatrical without wrecking either viewing, but the same can't be said the other way around. Once you've seen the stuff in the special edition, you can't unsee it and approach the theatrical with a clean slate. And Ashleigh tends to enjoy shorter movies anyway--the Special edition is longer and has slower pacing in places. (And as someone who has seen both versions and greatly prefers the story without the ugly implications of the added material, I think it's important to give Ashleigh the chance to see the theatrical on its own merits).

I know this is about franchise Fridays, but I just wanted to put this out there.....please try to watch Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas (1977) for Jingle Beans. It's a lesser known Henson Muppet film that is so wonderful. Kermit even makes a cameo in it. :)

I have to say, I'm actually okay with watching any & all of these franchises. My vote went to Bond because we are entering the Roger Moore era and he is the Bond I grew up with, but I would honestly love to see Ashleigh react to all of these. Hopefully she will get to all of them at some point 🤞🏽

Why are you jiping December and not doing more holiday films? With this and Buffy on Wednesdays, there will only be five Christmas/Holiday films in December while October had 13 Halloween/Horror titles watches. I say postpone the show wednesdays and franchise fridays to after New Years.

I’m baffled by how a simple vote descended into such madness. I can understand people’s desire for something new (I voted Alien), but if Marvel keeps winning, so what? I know that eventually I’ll get to see the reactions I want, and in the meantime I’ll enjoy whatever Ashleigh puts out. I waited a year or so for Murder By Death and wasn’t disappointed when it was done recently. I’ve wanted The Fog for Hallobeans for the past 3 years and I’ll keep waiting another 3 if I have to. @Missy we're not "getting mad" when we encourage people to be positive in the comments, but it has been very interesting to see who "gets mad" at being encouraged to post more positively. Telling everyone "your choice sucks, such and such franchise is awful now, every franchise here is garbage" is not cunducive to a good discussion about what movies to watch. I am all for advocating for the things you want to see (btw Ashleigh has already done Best Little Whorehouse) I have my own list of older classic films I would love to see Ashleigh react to. But trashing whatever's winning in the comments instead of simply taking a month off from Patreon and saving yourself $10 is just childish to me. But removing it for a month (starting next year) would add variety. "Good" is rather subjective. I'm thinking she would actually really like some things people say are awful - Like... Ant-man 3, The Marvels, or She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. When people call the Marvel movies good or bad, what they really mean is how much they personally liked them, especially compared to what they hoped they would be. She doesn't go into these movies with the same kind of incredibly precise expectations that a lot of people seem to. She's just hoping to have some fun with these movies and shows, and I think she'll get a kick out of a lot of the remaining Marvel content.

It will happen one day... and we're already quite close: 9!! oldies done, 7 to go (including the most epic goofy stuff) and we're already in the 90's with Brosnan. Personally I don't think Bond will get another go before spring 2025.... It's clear that after a break from Marvel that as well as Ashleigh as a lot of viewers want it to continue, and with the holidays coming up soon it will be too busy for Bond like it was around Halloween.... But in spring there are fewer holidays, and with some new Marvel-fatigue after watching a whole new bunch of them perhaps then Bond get's another chance.

The first two alien movies are some of the best action/scifi movies of all time, I think significant dip in quality is very fair lol sure 3 and 4 have good elements, but compared to the first two they're not even close to the same level. But it's all personal opinion at the end of the day.

Alien 4 is an exemplary product of the 90s Bruckheimerian action-film era, has a compelling performance by Sigourney Weaver... and gives a sneak preview into the Joss Whedon Firefly TV show vibes. It's still worth watching, especially for Ashleigh IMHO. Alien 3 you have to look past the poor visual FX a little to engage with the underlying story and themes, but it's actually a really good movie given its challenges. I would not consider Alien vs. Predator part of the Alien franchise for purposes of this. It's OK but it does not have any story continuity with the other Alien movies and does not make sense in the overall storyline of the other Alien films. (It's based on comic books and video games which themselves are not part of the Alien storyline.)

Cap and Strange were both intended as pilots for tv shows, so they were never gonna be groundbreaking cinema. That said, I like the idea of more pre-mcu stuff. Howard the Duck is a masterpiece

Every Alien movie (including the prequels made prior to Alien: Romulus) has *something* going for it, something groundbreaking or interesting or engaging that makes it worth watching at least once. I just recently watched all the Alien movies, and after a significant dip in quality they actually get much better, I really loved Romulus. So Alien has my vote (though Marvel always has my hearts vote lol 💜) And I'm once again pleading with everyone to keep your comments positive and about what you WANT to see in the future, rather than what you don't want
