Chapter 224: Phoenix
🕑 Added 2025-09-02 07:35:39 +0000 UTCThe Hepolisk viper came to a sudden stop as the dragon’s flame came down from the sky and torched the area it was about to slither over.
It looked up in surprise as it saw a strange white dragon and a Phoenix woman hovering in the air and looking in his direction.
The Hepolisk viper was wondering why a dragon would suddenly appear here, of all places, as it never occurred to it that it was capable of seeing through its stealth tech. The stealth tech that the vipers used was state-of-the-art and only known to a few high-ranking members of the Hepolisk leadership.
As its vision moved from the strange white dragon to the Phoenix woman, the Hepolisk viper widened its eyes in surprise as it recognised her. She was Princess Revi, one of the vipers' secondary targets, who it was to eliminate and claim the heart of, if given the chance.
The Hepolisk viper smirked as its forked tongue flicked out and licked its lips before it started to slowly slither towards the Phoenix Princess while pulling out the dagger it had used to kill her father, the emperor, less than an hour ago.
“Looks like it recognises you, it just pulled out a dagger and is slowly slithering towards you,” Tephe said lightly as she never took her eyes off the Hepolisk viper, which suddenly froze after hearing her words.
“Oh, really?” Revi replied with a raised eyebrow before saying in a cold tone, “Show yourself, viper scum.”
The viper didn’t move, while it didn’t believe that the dragon could really see it, it also wasn’t so naive and inexperienced as to brush off the possibility straight away.
“I guess it’s shy,” Tephe said with a chuckle.
“Well, these bastards do live and work in the shadows,” Revi replied.
“So what do you want to do? I can just burn it to ash and be done with it.” Tephe offered, and whips of flame appeared around her maw.
“No, this bastard is mine for what they did to my father,” Revi replied angrily before adding, “If you wont show yourself, I will force you to.”
As she finished speaking, Revi’s fiery wings flared up with heat even more before she engulfed her entire body in fire as her shape started to change. Her body grew larger as her head transformed into a bird's beak, her arms combined with her wings, which grew even larger, her feet changed to talons, and long tail feathers grew out of her rear end.
Eventually, the fire covering her body vanished as Revi flapped her giant wings and cried towards the sky.
“SCCCRRRRREEEEEEEE”
A giant bird in golden-orange and red that was almost as large as Tephe looked down menacingly before saying, “Burn you Hepolisk bastard,” after which Revi opened her beak and shot out red-hot Phoenix flames towards the place where the Hepolisk viper was hidden
The Hepolisk viper's eyes widened in panic, and it quickly coiled its tail before using it like a spring to leap out of the way of he incoming flames before it tried to quickly slither away again. The viper knew it had no chance of killing and claiming Revi’s heart while she was in her true form.
“Sliper little fucker is trying to escape, he’s fleeing in that direction,” Tephe said as she used one of her claws to point in the direction the Hepolisk viper was fleeing in as she followed it.
Revi flew in the same direction and continued to spew out red-hot Phoenix flames in the hope of burning the viper to death.

Spector Unit 6 entered the atmosphere as Adam followed the directions on his viewscreen to meet up with Tephe.
As he closed in on her location, he saw a red glow that was far brighter than and more distinctive than the natural red glow the planet gave off and eventually managed to make out a giant flying red bird that was spewing fire at a spot on the ground while being accompanied by Tephe.

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): I have seen the images and videos on the universal subspace network from when they were still alive. But compared to right now, they don’t do it justice.]
“It seems the Hepolisk viper is trying to escape,” Adam commented as his viewscreen picked up the outline of the stealthed Hepolisk that was trying to slither away.
Adam had Spector Unit 6 fly above the Dragon and Phoenix before he suddenly had it land on the ground in front of the Hepolisk, cutting off its escape.
“It seems you started without me,” Adam said as Spector Unit 6 looked up at the Phoenix, getting a closer look before turning to look at the Hepolisk and saying.
“Gift it up, you can either die from the beautiful red birds' fire, or by my lasers.” As Adam spoke, he raised Spector Unit 6’s wrist and had it point at the stealthed Hepolisk while the ten drones circled around the target.
The Hepolisk viper was panicking now, dealing with the Dragon and Phoenix had been tough enough, but now there was even a mech here that had strange triangular objects circling it. The Hepolisk might have been able to evade the Phoenix’s fire attack, however, it knew it had no chance at evading a laser that travelled at the speed of light.
The Hepolisk viper raised its hands in the air in surrender as it deactivated its stealth tech and became visible to all. As it did, it asked, “How were you able to see me?”
“SCCCRRRRREEEEEEEE”
Adam didn’t get a chance to answer, even if he wanted to, as the Phoenix let out another angry cry before once more spewing red-hot flames from its beak that caught the Hepolisk off guard. It wasn’t expecting them to attack as soon as it showed itself, and because of this couldn’t evade in time and was burnt to ask as the Phoenix fire engulfed it.
“Fucking assasin scum.” Revi spat after she finished roasting the Hepolisk and began to revert to her humanoid form.
“Thank you for your assistance,” Revi said towards Adam after she had returned to her humanoid form.
“No problem, and besides, it’s Tephe you should thank, like I told you before,” Adam replied.
“I already thanked her, and besides, it was you who helped our fleet turn the tide, right?”
“All I did was destroy the communication jamming ship and the capital ship leading their fleet.”
“Is he always this modest?” Revi turned to Tephe and asked.
[OrangeeyedStace (Oceana 7): Yes.]
[OfficialRowena (Oceana 7): It’s kind of annoying.]
[OfficialLorelie (Oceana 7): I kind of like it, makes a change from all the men who usually try to show off by boasting.]
[Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): Same.]
[OfficialRowena (Oceana 7): Well, that’s true.]
“Yup,” Tephe replied as she transformed back into her own humanoid form and her helmet retracted.
“I like to think of it as self-effacing,” Adam replied calmly.
“Hehe, don’t you think you stand out a bit too much in your giant mech to be trying to avoid attention?” Revi chuckled before asking.
[OfficialRowena (Oceana 7): Not to mention the planetary annihilation beam.]
[LadyErkath (Oceana 7): Oh yeah, let's just destroy two capital ships with a planetary annihilation beam, it will be fine, no one will notice.]
“Fair point.” Adam conceded as Spector Unit 6’s cockpit opened, and he flew down to them both.
“Wings?” Revi asked in surprise as she looked at the wings on Adam’s anti-gravity armour with interest.
“They're cool, aren't they? You should see his tail.” Tephe said excitedly.
“I don’t see a tail,” Revi replied in confusion.
“Oh, it only appears when he wants it to, apparently, show her show her,” Tephe said as she bounced up and down in excitement.
Adam nodded as his anti-gravity armour's tail suddenly started to grow.
“Wow,” Revi said in amazement as she admired the tail as it swayed gently.
[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): I still can’t get used to his anti-gravity armour doing that.]
“I’m sorry to hear about what happened to your Emperor.” Adam suddenly said, causing Revi to stop admiring his tail and turn silent for a moment.
“Thank you.” Revi finally replied in a sad tone.
“I know it’s probably a pointless question, but is there anything I can do?” Adam inquired.
“I want to ask you to go back and save him, but since you don’t know how you got here in the first place, I’m guessing that's not an option.”
“I’m afraid not.”
“Then how about I settle for a hug?”
“Huh?” Adam replied in confusion, and before he could say anything, Revi wrapped her arms around him and buried her head into the chest area of his anti-gravity armour before she started to silently cry.
Adam and Tephe just stood there and let her tears flow, while out of habit or instinct, Adam raised his hand and started to gently stroke her hair.

I get what you say, but it's part of his character building. Because of his past on Earth, where he was essentially a nobody, he never really learnt when to act proud about an accomplishment, since before Jenny, no one really cared or congratulated him for anything. This will change over time, but it's not something that happens automatically.

Honestly, I feel like the mc goes past humble the way he acts, it just comes off as insecure, like he lacks the self confidence to actually admit when he achieved something impressive, it's a bit unpleasant honestly
