A brainchild isn't someone who comes up with a thing, it's the thing that is come up with. But that aside, good point.

Alec Balwin was the brainchild and was funding Rust with his own money. So Baldwin was responsible for the horrible conditions on set that lead to the walk of unionized workers who were experienced with handling prop weapons, and is therefore is responsible for manufacturing the conditions on set that caused this tragedy to occur.
