None of that is not good enough reason not to crown his WIFE! His pregnant wife! He might get away with crowning his grandmother or stepmother but that is about it. If Jon doesn't crown his wife, then he's pretty much declaring to entire Seven Kingdoms that his marriage is a sham and doesn't matter... that Val doesn't matter. That is why Rhaela or Elia could work as substitutes (Val is still best option).

No. He is a Prince of House Targaryen, second in line to Iron Throne and he is married to a Free Folk woman. If he wins joust he MUST crown Val. He might get away with crowning Rhaela or maybe Elia. Doing either will raise a lot of question, but since they will be revealing the truth following Joust those questions will be answered immediately. What he absolutely cannot do is crown someone else (Rhaenys, Arianne or Daenerys), especially not Arya considering all the mess that will go down following Joust. Basically, if Jon doesn't crown his wife, then he's pretty much declaring to entire Seven Kingdoms that his marriage is a sham and doesn't matter... that Val or her child don't matter.

I would definitely agree with Elia. I could say Arya but she would want the crown rose and would most likely insult it and throw it on the ground or something. Plus she's probably going to hate him anyway for what's going to happen to her parents if its anything like the origional story

I’m completely on board with it being Arya for multiple reasons. It avoids confrontation with his partners about whom he finds most beautiful. It could also serve to put girls like Sansa and Jeyne Poole (who now find Jon worthy 🙄) in their places, especially Sansa who’s holding out hope that she’ll be crowned. Would love to read a scene where she sees Jon riding their way with the crown, fully believing he’ll crown her only for him to by pass her and crown Arya 🤣, she would be devastated. They’ve spent years insulting Arya about her traditional Northern looks and less ladylike behaviour, calling her “horse face” and “savage” despite the fact that everyone says she looks and acts like a young Lyanna who was considered a great representation of Northern beauty and ideals. It will also remind Arya that Aemon/ Jon loves her no matter what is to come with Ned after the reveal while protecting her future prospects because people will remember that he loved his cousin enough to crown her, thus she’s under his protection no matter how out of favour the Starks. It would also act as a tribute to Lyanna, a “like father, like son” moment, where both Jon and Rhaegar have crowned Northern beauties, thus highlighting that to the Royal family, Northerners are not savage animals like those in the Crownland’s view them.

Honestly it just seems like that Arya is a safer bet to where he’s not playing favorite’s romance wise plus it would be quite unexpected which I believe would go along well with the shock factor

I don't read this story, but your comment caught my eye, so I don't know the relationships in this story, but the winner can crown a family member, or whoever the Queen is so they don't cause a controversy like Rhaegar did when he crowned Lyanna instead of Elia, or his mother I guess.

Also I do have a question for you, I’ve read “Targaryen Dragons” and saw how you were planning to finish it, so I’ve been wondering if you are planning to turn this fanfic darker (MC loved one to die/MC death at the end)? I mean why want to crown Arya? Isn’t bestowing the title of “Queen of Love and Beauty” meant to show one’s romantic interests upon someone they are interested in? I mean what would that do for Arya? If there is no romance and what would do for Aemon?

Arya seems to be the logical choice. Just seeing her reaction after receiving the crown will be priceless (granted we'll be reading it) but you get the point.
