Writing Article - and need help on new idea

I also want to talk about the chapter of a new story I'll be posting on Patreon - because you WILL be getting one, but it might take me a few days. Reason being that I'm low on the tank on ideas, since I usually keep a few ideas for new stories in my head, but I've had to release two! One today and one next Tuesday. I could have given you an early peek at that, but it felt lame given you'd see it for free in not five days.
Instead, I want to write something new for you all - which means a day or two to think up a new idea. I kind of have one in my head already, but it's a bit... eh, I like it, but it's something I've done before. Hell, let's give you the idea here.
It's a time travel story.
Another!? Coeur, you have "Not this Time, Fate" and "Relic of the Future" already, and you'd be right. I kind of really like time travel, hence why both those stories were so good and so well-written. I was thinking for one here that I'd mesh it with another old idea I had - the STRQ origin story. I still fancy that, but don't like that it'd have a known ending. Everyone knows how it finishes, that Raven runs etc, which would take a lot of the mystery out of it.
I was thinking instead that the story could be that QROW gets sent into the past, his past, back to when he's a kid with his sister in the bandit tribe, and the story could be about him wanting to "fix" what went wrong - save Summer, prevent Taiyang being heartbroken, stand by Raven so she doesn't abandon them. In doing so he changes things, draws attention both from Ozpin and Salem, and gets into trouble of his own.
Does that sound interesting to people? My idea tank is so low otherwise, as I've just splashed two (three if you consider Second Choice) of my ideas out this month!

Anytime you've written about the STRQ team stuff I've always liked it and a whole story about them? yes

I’d be interested in a Qrow time trace story as long as it doesn’t get as bloated as Relic. What I mean is a lot of characters were added bc canon and some plot lines I liked got dropped or ended abruptly. I’d say if you do it keep it focused on a few characters and maybe not as grand explosive endings as some of your other works so you can focus on just what Qrow finds important and focus on the interpersonal than some grand mission.

Time travel is one of the hardest narrative tools to use, and you have nailed it 2/2. I also love time travel as a mechanic and love seeing it used, I would be very enthused to see qrow be a main character too, because you write him very well.

I'm definitely interested in seeing a qrow centric fic. He's a great character with a nice open backstory. I certainly would like to see qrow try to undermine ozpin in the background, possibly even a story where he actually gets the girl. Poor qrow.

I enjoyed your earlier team strq one shots, so I think it could turn out well. If you do end up writing it, no idea how qrow is going to balance fixing their team issues AND making sure ruby and yang still get born.

I'm curious how you'd write a war between kingdoms in the RWBY setting. With JNPR and RWBY being split between Vale and Mistral, Atlas, and Menagerie, I figure that could be a recipe for some interesting conflict in the right hands.

I think that qrow idea is a very good one. I haven't read many stories that focused on qrow as the MC that were well written, and I like his character, so I'm hyped to see a story like that!

Good to hear. Then I guess for a scattershot of idea none of which have any real flesh to them: 1. Jaune is on Salem’s team through some kind of agreement to protect his family where he’s evil not because he turkey wants to be but beacuse he believes that’s the winning team. 2. Cinder is taken in by Qrow after she kills her step family, or slightly before, and become a huntress that takes down rouge huntsmen. “Who hunts the huntsmen.” 3. Ren-centric story of him working odd-jobs trying to get enough money to buy him and Nora Huntsmen weapons and training.

Your team STRQ and branwen tribe writing has been pretty fun so far, so that sounds pretty hype, also a bit of a time travel junkie so the more the merrier

I may consider, but I'm actually writing Forged Destiny as a fully original story, which I am going to start releasing chapter-by-chapter as a web-novel sometime in November. I'm only out of ideas here because I had to use the two I was banking on this. So, yeah, with that and me considering more original works outside RWBY in the future as well, I think I should be sorted there.

If you’re running low on ideas maybe (and this may be a controversial opinion) branch out from RWBY either with a truly different fandom or a crossover. I know you’ve been thinking about a Hella Boss crossover and you’re obviously passionate about it. Patreon might actually be the best place for something like that since the monthly update schedule gives you a lot of time to adjust for any new information the show drops and can be changed for the fanfiction release. It also gives you a chance to see how your readers react to non-RWBY or RWBY crossover. If you or the readers don’t like it here you can drop with without feeling like you have to complete it since it won’t have made it to fanfiction.
