Status Update
🕑 Added 2024-05-21 18:23:05 +0000 UTCHey all. I don't want anyone to think this is a bad or negative message because it really isn't. I'm just being honest with you all and letting you know what to expect.
As you may have seen from my chapter updates or lack of them, the business I've been in charge of managing for so long is going insolvent. This is mostly because of personality clashes between other management and the owner (my boss) but it has recently turned out through investigation of work emails that several individuals have been plotting behind my back as well as against the company, up to and saying they'll "ignore my instructions, watch the company go bust and watch me get the blame".
Rough stuff. Now I have thick skin and will be fine with that. I also having savings and the generous support of you all - and I plan to continue proving worthy of that through my writings, but I just want to let you all know some key things.
1) My plans going forward.
I plan to not get a new job and dedicate myself to my passion and love - writing. I'm excited to be free of such a stressful job and to be able to write full-time, and hope to get on top of projects I've wanted to do forever, like making "Forged Destiny" an original webnovel, and writing my own fiction books if I have time.
My fanfiction won't go away and I intend to not only keep writing, but to have more time available for it. With any luck, this will let me write BETTER chapters that are even longer.

2) The Temporary Bad
Insolvency is a messy process that'll take months and involve lots of meetings out of hours with accountants, finance companies, taxman, rescue companies, etc. It's going to disrupt my ability to write fanfiction.
I'm not saying I'll not be able to but even just a small example will be that I have to give up my one day a week off (Wednesday) from work to meet with the experts. That'll mean I can't do lessons on Wednesdays for a couple of months. Crap.
Luckily, this should no longer impact weekend updates but it runs the most risk of bothering the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday slots. All I can do is assure you it'll only be temporary and ask you to stick it out with me. I'll always release "something" when I can. It's just some chapters there may be short or rushed.
3) Am I in trouble and should you be worried for me?
In short, no. I'll be okay and thanks for the worry but don't panic or feel stressed on my behalf. Now if my support suddenly drops to an unbearably low level, maybe panic lol, but as it is now I'll be just fine. My home is also secure for now and I have savings, not to mention "hopefully" some redundancy money once this is all over with.
4) Is it all good or bad?
Honestly, I've been wanting an out for ages but always stayed due to company loyalty and a desire not to leave the staff I felt responsible for in a bad situation. Now that I know they secretly hated me behind my back while I was defending them to our boss, I feel no such qualms in leaving them.
I'll be less stressed once I leave, able to get better sleep, live a healthier and happier live, and to commit to what I've always wanted to do and become a writer full-time.
So, ultimately, this is a good thing in my opinion.
But there's going to be a lot of stressful crap to get through on the way to freedom.
Thanks for reaidng my TED Talk, and enjoy my stress report image for Monday, lol. I managed to get my moments of "low stress" down to just 26 mins in a 24-hour period. Look, mom, I've reduced my stress. Just ignore the "high stress" time. xD
I actually think the moments where it couldn't read my stress were because it elevated over the 100 mark and the tracker assumed it was a bug.

As someone who once lived through something similar (but only half as bad!), I can empathize with your situation. Hang in there, life will indeed get better at a later date! From my own experience: after living through a very difficult year in a company that was secretly going bankrupt, it's given me a positive context for all my jobs afterwards! When things have been difficult, I've been honestly able to say: "This is rough, but you know what? It's not as bad as that job was!" Also, something I've learned about toxic people being toxic: for all that they lash out at people around them, it's rarely 'about' those people. In virtually every case I've seen, such people are acting out from insecurity, shifting blame to convenient targets, or otherwise offloading their own issues onto others to avoid responsibility in their own lives. They'll say "I hate person X because of Y", but often that's just their justification for their own misbehavior. I admire your positive outlook. While it's healthy to acknowledge where others have done us wrong, it's also important to be able to let it go and move on. Bitterness can be a poison that we dose ourselves with, and you seem to be wisely avoiding it. Which is honestly impressive under circumstances like yours! As a reader: while I always look forward to your updates, I certainly wouldn't expect any author to hold to a schedule while dealing with life stuff.

Congrats on getting out of a stressful workplace, I'm excited to see what you'll be able to write now. Take a proper vacation once this is all done with and then jump in to what you've been wanting to do. Good luck!

I’m glad that despite everything you have found a silver lining to this. Honestly, had you said you needed to take a long hiatus to deal with this I would have respected it. But perhaps now is a good time to reread some of my favorites, maybe go back through forged destiny, kingdoms service, professor arc and such again, it’ll certainly keep me busy!
