Roller Van - print in place rolling wheels

Let's roll! Sorry, couldn't help that :P But that's right, this is a print-in-place rolling van! The whole thing prints on its side, and the wheels and axles are single pieces that rotate within the van body.
The idea of print-in-place wheels has been bouncing around in my head for a while, but went to some silly places before ending up in a relatively simple place. Hinged axles were a prominent feature for a while, even one version where the whole thing printed in a big X shape, and then folded in underneath itself...
This final form has some distinct advantages, but the most important is that the axis of the wheels' rotation is perpendicular to the print plane. That's a good thing, because it means the rotation doesn't grind layer lines against each other, so friction is reduced, which is all-important if we want something to roll. Obviously there's still plenty of friction since we're dealing with printed plastic, but it's good to minimise it where we can!
Printing Tips
As with any articulated print-in-place model you'll want to make sure your bottom layer is nice and neat, and that there aren't any print issues like stringing or overextrusion that might bind together moving parts. No supports needed, though, and there are no crazy angles in there :)

Final Thoughts
This was a fun one, and it does have plenty of scope for expansion. The first response I had to this was "ooh, you should make the roof hinge open!" Maybe I will :)

I agree! moaar toyyss..or even just more iterations of this one. My 20m old daughter is enjoying this one. The only issue is she keeps packing it full or crayons or food through the windoes π€£π€£π€£.
