Square Bow Gift Box!

Yes, it's another box with a bow on it, but as usual it's really an excuse for me to experiment with yet another style of print-in-place box construction. Let's have a look!
So, first thing - it's a two-part lid. That's because the whole point of this one was to have a lid that could be locked closed from the middle of the top with the use of a threaded bow. So, the lid halves carry half a thread as well. In fact, there's a little indentation at the bottom of each side to allow the threaded part to fit nicely when the box is open (and during printing).
Note that there are two different bows included. They're the same design, but two different sizes - choose the one that suits your style, best, since I couldn't decide which one worked best for me :) The thread is the same in each, of course.
Printing Tips
As with any articulated model you'll want to make sure your bottom layer is nice and neat, and that you don't have print issues such as stringing or overextrusion that might bind together moving parts! No supports are required, of course :)

Final Thoughts
I have one more gift style box on the way, but it's vastly more complex, larger, and I'm still getting it to actually work the way I want it to! Oh, and it's a rectangular one, too :)
Time to go impatiently peer at a test print in progress as though that will tell me anything about how things will work when it's done! :D

Depending on your printing and slicing setup, you should be able to scale it down a bit. The model has fairly generous tolerances - 0.5mm gaps, in fact. So, just scale down that figure and consider whether your printer will be able to print parts that far apart without them binding. Hmm, I really should make a model for testing that kind of precision!

It's a good model for modifying, actually! I've seen a few people replace the bow with other things, and I have a non-bow version on the way myself. Could you drop me a message with more details on what you're thinking with the helmet?

So my mom asked me how hard would it be to make a football helmet to screw on vs the bow. Just a standard helmet. She loves the bears and wants the box in those colors but wants to screw a helmet on top

I haven't tried it with a larger nozzle, but there's nothing specific in the design that should cause problems. The hinge is fairly large, and should be able to take thicker layer lines without trouble :) Let me know how it goes!
