So after dropping the last RazeXR update, I got a little carried away with a few of the other bits and bobs in RazeXR that weren't _quite right_ (or just wrong), to the extent that I think with this update, it is in a pretty decent state; certainly good enough for me to leave it be for a time at least.
One of the main issues people were having was the way the screen jittered about when firing weapons in Blood, this is now fixed which I hope is welcome news to many of the Blood fans.
Another problem reported by several people was the aiming going out of sync.. I am now pretty confident this issue has been properly resolved with a change to the way the game and vr-client yaw and pitch angles are maintained and kept in sync. As a result there certain scenarios (such as when you fall from a large height or go through a teleport) where the view seems locked, but it is brief, and will ensure that the view you are seeing is synchronised with the underlying engine's angles, which is what is needed to keep the aiming also synchronised.
Anyway, to save you from my waffling, here's the changelog:
- Fix screen shaking when firing weapons in Blood
- Mapping of Dominant Hand Grip Button + B Button = BACKSPACE This allows you to a) delete exsting custom control mappings if you want to implement your own, and b) functions as a natty 180 degree turn-around in Duke Nukem
- Rebind quick kick so it can be defaulted as the thumbrest on Quest - So the thumbrest no longer has an action assigned to it, but can be bound in the customize controls menu if you want to make use of it
- Disabled use of thumbrest on pico - It seems the Pico 4 treats any part of the face of the controller that isn't a button as "thumbrest", which meant it was too easy to trigger the weapon switch in Blood (or kick in Duke), so I removed that mapping entirely as it isn't useful
- Use improved game yaw resync logic (as mentioned previously)
- Allow game to override pitch (disabled by default, allows the engine to apply pitch angle changes like it would in flatscreen, use with caution, but I personally really like it)
- Change config file name to razexr.ini - So you don't need to delete the config file this time round
- Change texture filter level (looks better in VR)
- Fix crash when clipping through into non-sector areas
- Implement height scaling when shrunk in Duke - Also affects the world scale so you actually feel tiny - test it out by firing the shrink gun at yourself in a mirror
- Corrected crosshair when using height adjustment
I think that is it for now.. hopefully that is it for a while and I will allow myself to look at something else (I must admit I do love Raze/Duke Nukem 3D, I just keep coming back to it, I must've played E1L1 a thousand times, just like E1M1).
Finally, many thanks again for your continued support from all of us at Team Beef
