That's so funny Caroline! Yes - perhaps a butcher sometime in the past.I think streets were often named based on families or businesses who lived there... I think this is quite lovely... And it reminds me of the Gilmore Girls episode where they rename all the streets in Stars Hollow... LOL... and the Inn ends up on Sores and Boils Alley... So funny!

Oh Ana - Anne of Green Gables is one of my all time favourite stories! I have read it countless times... And always love Anne's enthusiasm for puffed sleeves... 💕 They sounded so enchanting and beautiful... ☺️

I once knitted my daughter a yellow dress with leg of mutton sleeves. That was back in the 1980's. We now live in Somerset, where, in Glastonbury, there is a Leg of Mutton Road. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the shape of it, or maybe there was once a butcher's there.

I read Anne of Green Gables and I really wanted to see what the "puffed sleeves" looked like. They really do need at least one extra yard of fabric!! (And now i want a dress like that, too.)

I'm still knitting my second mitt - so not up to the beanie yet - but loving the design so far! 🎄✨🧶 And excited to do the popcorn garland again. That has been one of my favourite parts of the mitts! ☺️ The story is so lovely... I love listening to Kay read... However as a little tangent I must say, historical phrases can be so intriguing... and the phrase "leg of mutton sleeves" did make me giggle! LOL.. It is so perfectly formed in terms of conjuring up a strong image - but perhaps not the most appealing phrase to describe a dress element... LOL I can't imagine thinking to myself "Oh I can't wait to wear my leg of mutton sleeved dress... LOL " Still giggling here... LOL
