As a kid, I experienced gender dysphoria (MTF), but it largely vanished when I overcame my homophobia, and decided to live as a gay man: common for older gays and lesbians. It’s also not everyone’s story (certainly not yours, since you’re an MTF lesbian, the current probably ran the other way). I work with queer kids. I don’t know how to square this experience with affirmative care. It seems like if you overcome gender dysphoria in this way… win! But, it feels taboo in my very liberal enclave. Insights as to why? Advice?
