Just thought of a new question for the gear. Does the memory improvements work on past life memories? Because if it does, then you can use it to to remember all the knowledge he retains from reading various scientific and historical facts that might be leveraged to invent new things in this world

bigreaderpike

Inspired inventor is not the most broken. It actually requires you to build the tools to build the tools to build the tools to use. While the most broken would be celestial. Grimmore or celestial forge, which actually provides you stuff, already made to help you build stuff. So this year seems to kind of be like a universal library. That access is all the knowledge that already exists in this world. Only and enhances your memory. That's still pretty cool. And imagine how much more useful it will be once you reach. Ed the modern world assuming you live that long. You'll have the entire internet to access. As well as all the secret government files everyone. This gear scales with the level of civilization. You're in the heart of the level the more powerful

The Rules of Acquisition stopped updating in 2022 unfortunately. https://forum.questionablequesting.com/threads/the-rules-of-acquisition-x-over-si.12460/

Man I hope to see more updates for this soon, love a good DxD story and I love an original one even more

Son-Of-Scorn

What’s the story called please?

Zerak

Fair enough.

Slayer Anderson

I didn’t know about that, thanks for informing me. It was just the closest match I could find to the tone I wanted.

Slayer Anderson

That’s extremely tenuous at best and not something I’d be willing to take at face value. It’s entirely possible for any given ‘war’ in which Excalibur was broken to be entirely different from the ‘Great War’ between the factions. DxD does not provide the factual basis you need to really build this kind of timeline. Don’t worry about it. Like I said, I’m going to label this as an AU anyway given Henry’s actions if nothing else.

Bob Saget

Lol. Of all the 'Black Parade' covers, he sung one made by a convicted pedophile. I suppose you could say it was the perfect rendition for a goodbye that could reach out and touch all these poor children.

Raymond Alderman

Man, that Clinton Roosevelt self-insert was awesome. An early industrial age SI is an untapped potential.

I found this while trying to look for citations, but the thing to keep in mind is Excalibur is used by Arthur at some point in its full form, it was broken during or after the Great War (otherwise it would have been fixed). Ok so opened the books and did some quick searching (volume 3 chapter 2) Ddraig interchangeably refers to the Great War as the war and the Great War while talking to Issei about being sealed in the boosted gear. Same chapter a bit later Irina tells Issei Excalibur was broken in the war a long time ago. In volume 3 the Great War is referred to as great war 2 times, and referred to as “the war” 8 times. Some of those mentions are without a doubt referring to the Great War. From there we know that when Excalibur broke it would have been with the original Arthur, or one of his descendants (or someone from the church). Thus making the Great War fall sometime around or after the legend of King Arthur.

That’s not a citation, it’s someone theorizing based on a very loose interpretation of canon information. I’ve never actually seen it stated anywhere that the God of the Bible created any of those Holy Swords in DxD canon. A for effort, but there’s nowhere near enough information to pin down dates like this person wants to.

I found a link that might help: https://highschooldxd.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Merkarion/End_of_the_Great_War As for AU, I don’t think it’s AU yet as you aren’t changing anything, you are just filling in the gaps not filled by canon. And most other changes that are there by the time canon should have started could be laid at the feet of butterfly effect. Granted some people will scream AU. But if you don’t automatically count every fanfic as AU then this story is not yet AU.

Slayer Anderson

I'll need a citation on the date of Arthur's death, given I don't believe the DxD material actually says anything about him dying in the Great War. Unless there's a specific mention you can point to, DxD is notoriously light on details. Such as Ajuka's invention of the Evil Pieces. We don't have any real dates or confirmation of how long it took him to create them, but even then they'd need substantial time to properly test the safety of them before upscaling the production process to start providing them en masse. Like a lot of battle anime, DxD isn't really concerned about worldbuilding outside of the absolute necessities. There are a lot of interesting hints and allusions, but very little concrete. Suffice to say, I'll be going AU on this to create a more functional and complete timeline.

Zerak

Given he still remembers his past life it’s logical to infer that the soul holds your memories in some form. He can make a recall spell so while not eidetic he would be able to remember any he evert came across in both lives with the spell. Granted if he doesn’t know what he is looking for he might need to meditate to find it, or just go through his memories. Btw out of character (since MC doesn’t know, or might not have considered it), Ajuka likely developed the even pieces in a few years. We are given the impression he did it in under a decade. So the civil war being around the 1500’s would make sense. With the Great War being likely a few hundred years before that. An easy way to get a timeline is to figure out when King Arthur died since he died in the Great War iirc. This is for you as the MC can just ask when the Great War was, anyone form the supernatural would be able to tell him. From what I saw it’s estimated that King Arthur was depicted around 11th - 13th centuries. Through some accounts say 6th-9th. Roman cement is on the docket, as are several other 'lost' things he'll be reintroducing down the line. You're on the right track. As for his memory, it's not quite eidetic, but it's extremely good.

Zerak

Nice chapter, funnily enough most songs he liked might never exist here since soon history will diverge hard some things still happen despite the historical reason for their existence being impossible to happen in DxD, but I’ll chuck that up to different methods reaching the same conclusion. But songs are different. Any change at all in the grand scheme of things can change how the swing is written or make it so the song writer never got inspired to write that particular song, if they even existed. Given how some of the media in DxD is kinda our world adjacent like drag so-ball (dragon ball adjacent). So maybe similar things happen for others, but songs just won’t be the same. And sabatoon just of the picture since they tell stories of actual events, that I just don’t see ever happening in DxD. If the MC remembers it the chemical method to produce aluminium on the cheap-ish would be a good introduction. He can reintroduce Roman cement, if it isn’t still a thing, using his SG. And Aztec methods of fertilisation and many other small things lost to time. If he can remember his past life with perfect clarity as he gains eidetic memory from his SG (that’s what I assume is happening), there is a lot he can do. But he honestly doesn’t need it for money, but it would definitely help improve the lives of the average person.

If the ability of the tome is only able to pull up knowledge of that world with some cognitive enhancement... That's seriously broken. There's a lot of potential with the possibility of being reincarnated as a devil. The book is like a version of google that only pulls up real knowledge from the history of the world. While the tome isn't powerful in of itself, it can really enhance the user.

Memory Dump

Ow my heart, why must you wound me so? You brought up the ancient tone that was long thought lost. For real though this story that you're weaving right now is about the same level of Engagement but with a different theme, Rules of Acquisition was more capitalism and science fiction, while this one is more Magic and the mystical Arts. (with probably a bit of capitalism)
