Just a quick one here - these were both airbrushed. The one on the left was the first attempt, the one on the right after I got the hang of the 0.15 nozzle airbrush... Sort of 😅
This is all using mini paint, in this case a 2:4:1 mix of pro acryl warm grey:gw baneblade brown*:Pro acryl titanium white.
*probably gonna use '2 thin coats' wasteland brown, the Duncan rhodes copy colour, it'll be cheaper!
This was a LOT faster than brush painting the bricks, and because of the small surface area, doesn't use that much paint anyway. Mini paint gives great coverage, especially when craft paint needs either applying thick (harder/messier) or two thinner coats for decent coverage.
Based on early experiments I'd absolutely recommend this if time is your biggest restriction and a 0.15 nozzle airbrush is affordable for you - it seems like a like it'll be a massive time saver once you get the hang of it :)
But as you can see, once you get the hang of the accurate airbrush, overspent is near non-existent!
I also airbrush basecoated a whole desk of pieces in warm grey in only 20 mins this morning instead of 2-3 hours. So that I can just massively recommend 😁

This is after mod podge and black - do not skip the mod podge stage! :) It's mainly for the grey/tan basecoat and then the slightly lighter individual brick layering

Will the air brushing still provide the same level of protection like mod podge does so tiles can be sealed with a matte varnish spray?
