Bored now, so I've come back to watch this episode. I've just realised I didn't watch the full uncut version here. I watched it on YT. Anyway, Capt Hollister is played by Mac McDonald, and was on Aliens, Batman, and Death Wish 3. He is American.

I signed up for Red Dwarf so please do it to the end. Back to Earth (Season 9 mini series) is dreadful tho. So please do Seasons 1 to 8. 10 to 12 and then the movie called Red Dwarf The Promised Land which they made a couple of years ago!. They are also continuing to make it so as long as you do Red Dwarf i'm not going anywhere!. Live Long And Prosper Paula and Kat
Hey, signed up to Patreon for the Dwarf. I would recommend making it to at least the end of season 3. From there is gets a lot better though. I see some suggest “Get Smegged” for the tagline. But I would look up what Smeg (or Smegma, from which it is derived) actually means first. So long as you don’t mind, then Get Smegged works really well. But you gotta know what it means before you decide!

FInally! I have been unable to watch any Patreon vids since this landed and have finally sorted it out. Ready to see how Lister, Rimmer and the gang are received. :)

The Captain is American to make it seem more international I suppose (seems fitting for a company operating in space), plus in my small hometown I know at least 5 Americans that live there or nearby, I’ve worked with Americans in office jobs and my girlfriend is American. So they do exist in the UK 😁 Coincidentally she had the same reaction as you when she first saw it “what did I just watch?!” For us it’s not that weird at all 😂

Oh and that hot dog shirt is epic and would be fitting for episode 4 (Waiting for God) of this season… no spoilers They really do get into some genuinely good sci-fi, even though it’s a comedy, the hologram also predates Trek by almost 10 years. It was based more on Dark Star (which led to Alien) rather than Star Trek - the whole ‘truckers in space’ thing, or miners in this case

By coincidence, BBC4 is repeating I Claudius on Wednesday nights at the moment. The first three episodes are up on BBC iplayer.

Paula, we owe your British best friend a great deal for recommending you and Cathy react to this show. This show is in essence the Star Trek: Lower Decks of the era and as S1 E1 has already won you two over, that's only the tip of the iceberg for what's ahead.

I tell you what, Paula and Kat, both being actors I would love to see a reaction of this nine minute behind the scenes of the BBC production I, Claudius, based upon the novel by Rupert Graves. It's called 'This Old TV Show Has Better Directing Than Anything Today' A fair few faces that you are familiar with turn up and this was back in 1976. I really hope that you can! If not practical then, at least, I hope you tune into it at your leisure. It's been posted by Moviewise. This series was big back then and I tuned in to BBC 2 every week to watch.

Excellent choice, I love this show!

A good show and one I love growing up. I heartily recommend Blackadder if you are looking at great British shows.

I used to watch this on TVO when I was a kid. It was for me right up there with ST:TNG because of the heart that was out into it and the absolute insanity that is these crew members. I have no plans on stopping being a Patron for you all. Keep doing what you are doing, we have faith in you to be the best of yourselves. There is no happiness without hardship to show the contrast between the two. Remember that friends. ✌️

Not the PBS pledge drive, but it never feels right without the CBS/Fox Video and BBC Video logos from the old VHS tapes.

What a happy find when I opened yt today 😄 I shouldn't be surprised this is such a comment magnet! 😅 Honestly surprised that neither of you had been ambushed with this show by a friend before. 90's natives, show of hands, who was expecting a PBS pledge break offering a book of Filk music (yes filk singing, for the old-heads maybe) including Blake's 7 songs as pledge gift?
