Does copying the lines from a picture really help? or is it about taking notes of the general characteristics of the shape, like how to best illustrate them when they twist and stretch? I always felt like I was just copying and never really gaining any information from just eyeballing a image and just trying to copy it down line by line.

Doing them from photos so im eyeballing main core shape and proportion. So like in this one, the square shape that the front arm makes and the hoop of the tackle around him
