Lol, your all good. Your explanation was good. I thought that might have been the case, but I was hoping it was going to be the nonmagic alternative. But eh, it's fantasy, I'm fine with the way you designed your world. I didn't really explain what a false vacuum decay, so I'll explain it has simply as I can. It's theorized that our reality isn't the most stable configuration it could be, and it's possible that one day reality will fall into a more stable configuration and rewrite the way our universe works. Opening a portal to another reality will probably spark one to undergo this universal rewrite. Or, hmm... let's use a metaphor. Let's say our reality is a jenga tower. It's possibility for parts or even the full tower to fall and for the pieces to get all mixed together. The jenga blocks are the laws of our universe.

*crickets in my brain as you use science facts to dissect my story* Jokes aside; the two worlds are in different realities. The nature of the 'bridge' is that it enabled transport, and when Stellas stepped back on Ghomar, she had no type of protection in place and her body rapidly caught up with aging. It was a side-effect of the spell. Now that they know the exact way it works, Lyn has a countermeasure in place ("Now that I know about how the time dilation works, I have inscribed items that will revert the effects."). So they do have cross-world travel figured out at this point without any issue regarding the time dilation and sudden 'catch-up' progression of sudden aging. A way to think of it is that when someone from Ghomar walks through the bridge, the world of Ghomar sets a 'checkpoint' from their destination and keeps tracking time. When they return from Earth to Ghomar, their 'checkpoint' resumes and quickly catches them up to the modern day (whatever that is on Ghomar). So this new spell Lyn has devised (or the inscribed items in this case) are capable of preventing that 'checkpoint' from being made, so the person can just go back and forth between the two worlds without worrying about the time dilation for their personal biology/physiology. Hopefully that makes sense? I'm not a scientist. Science was an 'okay' subject for me.

I think the pacing of book 1 and 2 were good (I'm a bit iffy about book 3), but book 4's pacing was super different. Grant it, planning and everything Lyn did takes time, but it felt like a decent chunk of the beginning of book 4 needed more development. The pacing felt like it out paced world building, character development, and most other aspects of the story. Things improved towards the middle of book 4.

For Stellas time dilation, I'm going to need to sit on this for a bit. My initial thought is, assuming the two different universes follow extremely similar physics to avoid a false vacuum decay, Stellas should not have aged 20 years. Time would have moved normally for her as she went from Earth's frame to her Ghomar's frame. As for the portal to Earth, from her frame on Earth, she should have been seeing time go by super fast on Ghomar. As she entered the portal, since it seems the distance traveled is extremely short, Ghomar's time should have near instantly slowed down to Stellas's normal time and Earth should have near instantly started moving super slow in time. There is also a bit of an issue with speeds, since if Earth and Ghomar were in the same universe, Earth would be traveling at about .98c (c=speed of light) relative to Ghomar, and I imagine a mortal going from .98c to 0 would be powerful enough to rip the nucleus of her atoms apart (like a particle accelerator). But since this is fantasy and it's established that these are different universes, I'm just going to chock the time dilation up to it being a linear transformation between the two spaces and not from relativistic speeds/gravity.

Ok final thoughts on the series is that while I liked the premise and plot of it along with the characters the pacing was very off through out the whole story. Conflicts and events happened way too quickly and were resolved way too fast to the point where I couldn't really get invested into much of it. For one the emotional conflict for the main character was resolved way too fast and it felt like she really didn't learn anything from it. My suggestion would be to extend the story by a fair amount and give more focus on the conflicts that the characters have to overcome while also making sure they don't just get resolved in a chapter or two.

Made me emotional when writing it.

I was not expecting to get emotional but Thomas getting Hector back got me

If you like it - GREAT. If not, I thank you for your patronage and ask that you at least remain a free member so you'll be notified when Ruinous Return (to Earth) continues.

That's a shame I rather enjoyed this series, at least it is a good ending point. Was waiting for a few more chapters before giving your other one a try but I will shortly

The epilogue is going to be a 'time skip' that focuses on the 'view of the Empire / world of Ghomar' through the eyes of the Baxter children. The 'main cast' of heroes will make appearances as appropriate during the various scenes - but I really want to show the 'next generation' of sorts. The Ruinous Return to Earth is something I haven't worked on yet, but I want to work on...I just haven't had the time (see my comment response to Scyfe about the monetary aspect of things).

Seras Streams

The series is called Ruinous Return. She will return to Earth, and will conquer it and bring a utopia - whether they want it or not. (IDK when I'll write it; hopefully in a few months. Gotta focus on my other project right now because my publisher thinks it'll bring in more money due to being on-market, and I want to hit full-time author.)

NeverendingMixUp

Depends on if that Epilogue is the story Epilogue or the current books..

Scyfe

Well that is an ominous last line
