The Wedge.

I'd been through a lot that day already, including a huge forest, 10 miles of uneven, swampy bracken covered ground and several big climbs, fuelled only by hard gums. The diagonal route up this slab of welsh earth and the pain in my right leg and foot that came with it, has made me eternally grateful for the existence of footpaths. To this day I don't think I've ever had a harder climb. Bike or foot.

It's a beast isn't it. Thanks man, neither can I!

Wow, cool to look at it this way, kinda mind-blowing honestly haha. Can't wait for future missions :)

You're right Liam, it would make a great vid. I think nice and early, on a sunny, clear day, no recent rainfall, good food in belly, I could at least make it round the top end of the stream somewhere, possibly going about 50 metres off. The ravine was too dangerous though. I'd need a rock climbing instructor to join me and get me up and over that. And that's if they were willing to do it. In terms of what lay after that, looking back on google earth it looks pretty bad. Lots of rocky outcrops and drops. Would probably either need to snake my way through it, going off by 20 - 30 metres quite regularly, or climbing with the instructor. To sum up, It's possible, but wouldn't be easy. You're right though it would make a great story and I'd personally feel good having tackled that demon!

Tom, do you reckon you'd have another crack at this leg of the trip as a Mission on its own? With a bit of rest, the right gear and weather conditions? If you ditched the wine gums and got fully juiced on some proper food, I reckon you could make it. Could be an inspiring comeback story! Then again, the ravine and rushing water in the footage looked like a terrifying ...
