For the record, the thing about clothing and voting is probably related to the fact that you’re not allowed to electioneer inside a polling place. The idea was probably that since WWE has been pushed so much that Linda is backed by WWE, that it could be considered electioneering. Clearly it didn’t work, but that was probably the thinking.

just so you guys know for that "not allowed to wear WWE T-shirts to vote" thing, it is illegal for a person in the US to be in a polling center while wearing campaign slogans and merch for a specific candidate. the idea is that if for example you were voting and surrounded by people wearing the merch of a particular candidate it would influence you either out of peer pressure or fear to vote for that specific candidate and they want the centers to be as neutral as possible. the idea was likely that since the McMahanon is so connected to WWE that WWE merch would act the same way, making someone think of Linda more then other candidates in the moment as such making them more likely to vote for her.

I believe it also services some other towns, but hardly a major paper. As a bit of context, the rules regarding campaigning at election sites are taken extremely seriously in the US. They don’t want people wearing candidate merchandise within 50 feet of the entrance to election sites so people don’t feel intimidated to vote against those candidates. Linda being so publicly associated with WWE just made the whole thing completely muddled.
