- 00:38: Updating to Fedora 38, the issues I encountered, specifically with Resolve (and why containerized packaging formats are crucial for this kind of program), plus what I'll work on this week
- 17:24: Is VR the new "3D TV"? As in: will it ever take off, or will it always be too cumbersome and expensive to really become mainstream? I talk about my experience with VR, and the obstacles I think it needs to overcome to really matter.

Personally the combination of incompatible ecosystems / standards and high price point is a non-starter for me at this stage. I don't need to have the latest & greatest tech, but I do want what I have to be as useful as possible.

Re: VR: Pretty much standing by the call I made ten years (and centimeters of hair) ago: https://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-rift-interview-unity-emil-johansen/ :P Covid tripped things up a bit, but I'm still mostly convinced of current stage VR for entertainment available in few households, more available as an out-in-town experience.

Re: Resolve & stupid packaging: FYI it is obviously available nix packaged ;) I haven't tried it out, but it looks like it has seen active maintenance for a year and change at this point. Since you're having issues on your Fedora install, you could try just installing nix (the package manager) on there and then install Resolve through that. All dependencies solved - no messing with libraries on your existing install. In this scenario it would basically be equivalent to the Flatpak packaging you're requesting - except for the limits on application access rights.
