The Linux Experiment

Yeah, fortunately, I managed to reach 400Mbps with the mesh router network, which is more than enough!

Marcin SobociΕ„ski

What worked for me in terms of WiFi was Ubiquity Long Range, but I do not have fiber, so my top speed is around 80 Mb/s... probably too low for you πŸ˜•

The Linux Experiment

Yeah, it wasn't that, then, it was more of a soft, mouse desktop mat, carpet-like roll of stuff glued on top of wood flooring :D

The Linux Experiment

Haha well, I don't feel old, I just feel that I did the "let's carry heavy stuff a lot" enough :D

The Linux Experiment

We will definitely start a small garden and grow a few things, yeah!

The Linux Experiment

I would love to buy an e-bike, the issue is, it rains A LOT here, and that's not going to feel great ;D

Marcin SobociΕ„ski

Same in Polish 😜

Buy a velomobile 😎

Hey Nick, pretty sweet flat, good to see that the move went well. The terrace is really big, you really have a lot of space outside, do you have any plans on starting a small garden next year? About your problem with the wifi, I had okay speeds with a powerline adapter, around 100Mbits/s for both uploads and downloads on a 1Gbit/s optical fiber connection, latency was fine at around 3-5ms I think and the connection was stable enough. The model I used was a Devolo Magic 2, I don't know how it compares to a mesh network or if it's enough for your needs, just don't expect the speeds advertised by the vendor be it for a mesh network or a powerline adapter ;)

tell me that you are not a punk rock fan without telling me you are not a punk rock fan :) (Linoleum is also a song by NOFX)

"Nearing my 40s" as if you're getting old, lol. I don't want to hear that πŸ˜‰

So the name for Linoleum in English is Linoleum - it was a brand name, not an actual word, so it's the same everywhere. However, if your floor cracked then it was probably laminate flooring, which is a cheap type of flooring made from plywood and a single paper-thin sheet of solid wood OR a printed photo of wood on top. (Linoleum is a soft plastic made from various oils so it's very hard to crack.)

I will be interested to actually see your layout to get a better sense of your wifi connection issues. For myself, i had an issue where my computer room was behind a brick wall and fairly far away. I went with a TP-Link AX1800 WiFi Extender Internet Booster (RE605X) - WiFi 6 Range Extender which allowed me to bring fairly decent speeds to my room. The caveat is, of course, whether or not you have a wifi 6 router (which I did). I have not noticed any issue however our workloads may be different.

Congratulations on the move and on the teaching job! Good luck. Didn't know you were working out with kettlebell, great stuff. Also, cat figure on the floor is the best part.
