Autonomous Pen

I seem to have worded things poorly. Shen is not under mind control. He's not even under compulsion. His mind is simply so pressured, under so much stress, so overloaded, that he can't think straight and went into self-preservation mode. That translated into a mix of extreme paranoia with the inability to form complex coherent thoughts. *Multiple* factors caused him to reach this state: time ring for over a dozen of Standard days (over 100 Earth days), Voided Continua, Law Exclusion Zones, Wild Shift, stepping into a different space, being anchored to a different space than the one he was born into (and one created by thee Void on top of that!), and Abbav putting extra pressure. Think of Abbav's pressure as a more refined and stronger version of the Lawful Suppression that Shen experienced from Uya and Zyn. Abbav wasn't entirely truthful here, either. Letting go of Shen would bring consequences for his intended research, but it would be minor, if noticeable at all. Shen is under enough stress, and his willpower is being challenged enough to suit Abbav's needs. However, Abbav is still upset about the dragons and still jealous, as he told Zyn. Abbav is both the most honest and the least trustworthy individual in this novel. You can believe everything he says except when it comes to dragons or his research. Then, he will likely not outright lie, but he might hide important information or present it under a different light than you might expect. Contrary to Shen's belief, Abbav is not forcing Shen to pay attention to his words with a mental trick. Abbav is simply "speaking loudly" inside Shen's mind. However, he is doing so to a tiny part of Shen's mind which he exempted from Stress Discipline training. That causes further stress/pressure/overload when Shen believes two opposing things at once. Abbav is doing it on purpose to get a specific reaction. Shen would barely notice the "yelling" in other circumstances. Lastly, while it wasn't explicitly stated, it was implied that Abbav only needs to consume enough dragon blood to reach A-rank. He's at the peak of B-rank. Even so, you were partially right. While Abbav could mind-control this stressed Shen, it would be temporary because it would greatly injure Shen's mind. Shen would die soon enough. If Shen were in peak condition, Abbav wouldn't be able to mind control him. An A or S-rank could control Shen any day of the week. However, any True Path Walker would notice an attempt at mind control, no matter their strength of the gap to the puppeteer's power. They would also be able to resist at lot, especially as time passes. Others wouldn't be as lucky. By the way, that reminds me of the Immortal Emperor. His perception was manipulated, not his mind. I'll think of better words to use instead of mental manipulation and compulsion. The manipulation is technically true (his mind is being *manipulated* into staying under great pressure) but not in the way the chapter suggests. Thanks for the feedback!

The Tallest Tree

Now B ranks can mind control others? Strong C rank to boot? If Abbav can do this to Shen then what stops an A rank from doing worse to Abbav. And an S rank even worse. And the Bridge even worse. And the System owners even more so. Etc etc why have any free will at all if some U rank being controls all possible thoughts in Reality. It's just tiresome and I expected more from this story.

Veeeeeery interesting. Also, reality has a consciousness!? Is that the same or different from the heavenly will that performs tribulations?
