I am using endeavour os, have been with manjaro before as well. Instead of talking about whether or not this is privacy breaching - the WAY more important question to me is: what is the value I get in exchange? I doubt Manjaro provides a lot based on that data. If you ask for permission- and everyone in your tech stack wants to collect data, you end up in the same situation as the web. Constant nagging to enable it. I would suggest not to advocate for that future.

I’m a long-time Debian nerd currently using Vanilla OS 2 (Orchid). It’s a rock solid vanilla Gnome experience with tons of power hidden “under the hood” given its ability to run software from other distros. I highly recommend it, with one caveat; they still haven’t updated their online documentation to cover 2.0 which has left me searching random forums for info on how to do more advanced system management.

Long-time Manjaro user here. I've enjoyed it as an accessible way to get arch on my systems. It's stylish and has supported my hardware really well. It has had bugs, but they've been learning opportunities as I fix them. However, I've been looking for a reason to try another distro, because Manjaro's been my stable work system but I want to keep exploring and learning, and this just adds to that list. I understand why telemetry would be helpful. I sympathize, but I think we need to survey what other options we may have to improve system stability. I want to try an atomic or source-based distro next, I think. BlendOS for an Arch base, VanillaOS for a Debian base, anything in the Fedora Atomic line, or Gentoo? Thoughts, anyone?
