All the vamps had to do was get a human assassin to take out Marnie, they could have plausible deniability, just kill the assassin after he's done the job and make sure the cops get him, complete with manifesto/evidence or something. Hell the US govt does it all the time, like with every presidential assassin, even the ones that miss due to an unexpected head turn.
