Los Angeles police officer Jack (Keanu Reeves) angers retired bomb squad member Howard Payne (Dennis Hopper) by foiling his attempt at taking hostages. In revenge, Payne arms a bus with a bomb that will explode if it drops below 50 miles per hour. With the help of spunky passenger Annie (Sandra Bullock), Jack and his partner Harry (Jeff Daniels) try to save the people on the bus before the bomb goes off, while also trying to figure out how Payne is monitoring them.

Yea in reality most vehicle jumps in movies are super unrealistic. That's why I love the one in Gone in 60 Seconds bc it dam near destroys the car which is what happens in real life if the vehicle isn't equipped with the proper suspension.

Sandra and Keanu have killer chemistry. That's why I recommended The Lake House. Chance to watch that again. This movie is what kicked off Keanu's action films AND revitalized his career. It also put Sandra on the map. She'd been in other stuff (Love Potion Number 9, God, I adore that movie!) but this one cemented her in. Dennis Hopper was so great in this film, as he was in everything. Such an underrated actor. He played bad so well in this.

80s and 90 movies were the BEST for me. For that reason, alone! Like Princess Leia, ect! Sandy B is one of the best actresses of the 90s, in general, in that regard. For playing fiercly independent characters! I also apprecaite the early 2000s movies, which still had some of that. Like Erin Brokovich

80s movies are just the best. When you could just have a good old fashioned male action hero being cool and saving the day and the female could be strong and cool as well but in a feminine way. The woman could be a damsel in distress without it being a problem....I miss the good old days.

The only real problem was the unrealistic bus jump, the gap was on the flat yet the bus somehow reared up and went up and over at an angle. If the stunt were real it would angle downwards and smash into the middle of the opposing freeway structure. Normally a bit of artistic licence is acceptable for the story and entertainment but this violated all physics and realism, it took me out of the movie for a moment. Still, the movie is brilliant, an action classic.
