I’m sorry to hear about your job

Redmari

Thank you so much!! 🥹 I do have some merch over on my Storenvy but honestly I have been throwing around ideas for a higher tier here to offer either personalized commissions or maybe original art/inked sketches mailed out each month. Perhaps I’ll hold a poll here soon to gauge interest!

JC Gems

Sorry to hear that. Tbh Immediately went to increase my membership tier but realized I was already on the highest one. I'd be willing to help you out if you have other avenues of support like merch

Redmari

I hope so too and yeah, definitely not a fun time! I’ve had family try to tell me to enjoy this time off and maybe take a road trip or pick up a new hobby or something and I’m like You don’t understand how much my sanity is hanging by a thread at this moment 😅😂

Lee Spiesman

I'm sorry to hear that, I was in a layoff a few years back. In the end it turned out to have been a good thing but it's not a fun time. I hope it turns out good for you as well.

I can't wait to see what you create from this 🖤

Redmari

Thank you so much!! I was kind of in the same spot, I wasn’t making much admittedly and was the only one doing what I did for the company so I was completely blindsided by their decision to just ax the position (and have my job duties divided up to coworkers WAY not tech savvy enough to do it 😬). I’m hoping the job market is nice to me but who knows how long it will take. In the meantime you bet I’m gonna be diving head first into art and comics to keep me busy and productive!! I would absolutely love doing this more than a corporate job so I’m trying to look at this like a blessing in disguise that I’m planning on doing 2 comics and now suddenly have all the time in the world to focus on them ❤️

Oh baby duck! Keep your head up! I went through something similar, was in a job for around 10 - 11 years and they brought in someone from out of state and gave them my job.... then tried to force me to step down. It was wild. My property was #1 in our district so it was crazy and blindsided me. It wasn't like they even paid me well. It ended up being for the better, I moved into the company I'm with now. I make double what I did in just 3 years and can grow more now. My hope for you, is rather than finding a new "job," thos blows up for you since I love what you do, and I feel as though you love it too. So much love and support from Georgia!

Redmari

That’s what I’m hoping for! I know one day I’ll look back and this will just be a small blip in life, it’s just a matter of getting over the hurdle first to find what that better option is 🥹

I second this!! I got laid off from a high paying job back in 2018 and had to start fresh somewhere new at a much lower pay and in a field I had never worked in before. But it ended up being the best thing to happen for me and my family because I’ve been at this company for almost 7 years now and I love the people I work with, and I’ve worked myself up to a position where I’m pretty much irreplaceable and the company would have an extremely hard time if they ever had to replace me. Plus the job has helped me grow and learn so much, not just in my career, but also in my personal life. So it was super scary when I got laid off and had to change jobs, but it ended up working out for the best in the long run. ☺️

Redmari

Thank you so much!! ❤️

Redmari

Oh trust me, comics are the only thing keeping me sane right now!!

Redmari

Thank you!! 🥹

Redmari

Thank you so much! There is a comfort knowing others have been through this nightmare so thank you for sharing your story ❤️ My career options for what I did are pretty limited out there so it just might take me veering into something totally different as well, it’s just a matter of the what when and where!

Redmari

Having been there so long I did get a good severance package so there is that! But I also know the interview process nowadays takes weeks/months to go through (and that’s if your resume even makes it past the algorithm robots and impresses an actual person) so I know it’s gonna be a long path ahead TTvTT

I_am_Gizmo

Sorry to hear that. Being laid of sucks! Wish you best luck with search for a new one! And hope it will be even better!

Quadrant

Sorry to hear about your job. Hopefully you getr redundancy pay to help soften the blow, and also hoping it turns into a blessing in disguise. With the orange oompa-lumpa in charge, we're heading for volatile times again. It's being felt this side of the pond. Job searching is not fun, but you also at least have us to fall back on too

KermitsGirl

I got laid off from a job about 14 years ago and it was terrifying; I spent a lot of time in tears and full of anxiety. I was out of work for almost a year, applying to so many jobs I was overqualified for just because I needed a job, and finally fell into a position right as my unemployment benefits were about to stop. It almost completely changed my career path and I'm doing something I never thought I'd do, but I'm so much more successful at this than what I was doing before, and risen much higher than where my last career path could have taken me. I won't tell you to only view this as an opportunity (because we're allowed to feel our feels and this sucks!), but know that you have support from others who have been there. I hope it helps ease some of that anxiety you're feeling.

Kim

So sorry you have lost your job, Red! I've been there and it's very scary! I spent 6 months feeling extremely upset and anxious. But looking back and everywhere it's led me to in the meantime I'm so grateful at how it's all panned out. You just have to be fatalistic, try & retain your optimism & grab at new opportunities! The right thing will come along for you, no doubt! Trust what life has in store for you! 🤗

V Blackstone

Damn, that sucks and I'm sorry to hear that happened. But yay that you have your art and comics to fall back on.
