I also feel as if something is missing. I imagine a chapter from Remi, before this one, recapping the fight through his own internal monologue. It would help clarify his stance and how threatened? Entertained? His desire for freedom? Into perspective.

That disclaimer in the end is nice, but the actual chapter reads like start of a slave arc. And like that arc will take up a large part of the next book, because why would this book end here otherwise? Even if it's short and he escapes, which is not guaranteed, many readers wouldn't buy next book with such an ending. I know I wouldn't. I also completely missed the nano machines part in previous chapters, but it's probably issue with me.

I would like something with the POV of the Barge leadership. It makes sense why Verrona wants to keep him prisoner. But why would the Barge leadership go along with it?
