The final prep stream, the kick-off, & our shared tracking!
🕑 Added 2024-09-27 13:33:04 +0000 UTCThere's this anxious, excited feeling knotting my stomach, the same feeling I used to get in the lead up to November. I'm glad! I thought that maybe it wouldn't show. That us creating our own challenge would give me a bit too much leeway amongst all the other challenges and I wouldn't be nervous.
The nerves are a fun reminder that we're taking something Big on. That, if all goes as I hope, I'll have a completed draft by the end of the year. (Maybe even a completed draft I could give someone after??? Find an alpha reader? EEK.)
It might also be the spooky October energy coming through, too. It's the month I love most, the one where I don't want to let a single day slip through my fingers. There's still so much decorating, making, binge watching, reading, and ✨vibing✨ to do.
The hours are ticking down until October and our challenge begins, but until then, I still have some September time to spend with y'all. Our final Preptember stream will be TODAY at 2:30pm CDT. You can find the link to that here.
Also, after a few failed attempts other places, I've created our 100KQ4 (or 100K with Kate!) group tracking! You can sign up for an account really easily at TrackBear.

(I haven't figured out how to change the join code to make it simpler yet, bahahah.)
An example below of what the group tracking will look like:
I set it up so that you can track whatever you want for the challenge, but that the "goal" that will show up for all of us will be the 100,000 words. :) It does look like I can add additional Goals for each of the tracking systems, if y'all decide you want that and/or we can agree on how many lines = 100,000 words, you know what I mean? I'm flexible and we can chat about it during our final Preptember stream, too. :) If you can't attend the stream, definitely know what you think in the comments!

Okay, okay, I do think I will be posting here in a panic the few hours before October 1st, but just in case, I wanted to share our 100KQ4 Kick-Off Stream! It will be a very early 6:45am CDT and you can find the link to that stream here.
Also if you've created any hashtags, any prompts, any images, any fun additional little challenges, any calendar, any single thing in regards to the 100KQ4, PLEASE let me know. I'd love to shout it out here, on Twitch, on Instagram, etc. For instance, Clara has created a very helpful list of prompts for the days that 100K seems especially audacious. Several of these have already turned the wheels in my brain and I'm excited to add them as part of my character sheets. 👀

Awesome, thanks for all of this. I've been wondering about Track Bear so I'm excited to try it. I'm also thinking of making a banner or something because I want to share on socials that I'm doing this but no promises because its like 1 1/2 hours until October 1st lol

I think counting by hours is a wonderful idea!! Also I've seen a lot of very fun challenges popping up. If you want something less numbers-based, the author Claribel Ortega came up with a #FinishUrBookFall challenge that looks really fun too! :)

I really want to join in on this, but I'm trying to be more..... kind and realistic with my writing to stop seeing it only through the lens of productivity. But!!!! I also have just... not been writing without external motivation, so I guess we'll see how this ends up LOL (EDIT: Maybe I'll do 100 hours instead! When I'm on a roll, 1k words in an hour is usually standard for me, SOOOOO, and it'll remove the pressure of productivity/word counts if some days I'm slower)

Excited! I've recently started using 4thewords and discovered I'm very motivated by games, stats, streaks etc. Because it counts all added words even those you edit out and delete I also learned I wrote 20,000 words to end up with 5,000 in my actually draft 😅
