But he was close to the main drag, the Via del Plebiscito, midday sun bright and hot and Mediterranean, slanting between the two buildings. From the second floor, he could look down to a busy caffeteria and wine bar, bustling with well-dressed Romans and sloppy tourists. If he looked up and out to the left, it was a sea of flat roofs, distinctly Renaissance Roman. Across the street, before the roof-sea, a palatial block built in the 1300s. He’d visited yesterday, coming home from a meeting, swirled in melancholy. The place had hosted famous Cardinals, even Dante Alighieri one time about 700 years ago. The interior central garden had cheered him up, and he’d sat there for maybe twenty minutes with his face to the sun, blocking out all the thoughts that wanted to crowd him.
Three in the afternoon in Rome, nine in the morning back in Ajax. He had let Meyer sleep in this morning, waiting to call him once he’d gone to work, getting scolded yesterday for calling at six.

Josh sat on the window ledge watching happier people on the street below, home for lunch now on a Wednesday, no more meetings scheduled today. He still wore his suit, but his tie was over the back of a chair. “What about lunch?”
Meyer sighed. “I don’t know, Josh. I’m at work. I can only check on Kimmy when she’s in Ajax. And she’s in Ajax in the morning and she comes home after work. She stays at home, she doesn’t go out.”
He dug the heel of a hand into his orbital and lay back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. “No visitors?”
“I’m not there the whole time, man, but look, seriously, I’ve watched her two days and I don’t see any sign of anything. You’re totally paranoid. Are you sure?”

The pressure was enormous, and without realizing it, he’d offloaded it onto his cousin. No, not offloaded, because he felt no relief, did he? Maybe he did. His travel suitcase sat upright on its wheels in the corner. He unzipped it, put his hand deep into the bottom and fished around for the thing he was looking for.

I don't see any way that Kimmy can be so cruel to Josh - regardless of whether it all gets explained away by Josh's dark desires -end up with any respect for Josh after what she's done to him. I was thinking similar things about Amy. It's possible she's there to tease and torment, to give him a nudge to give in to what Devlin has said he wants, Josh watching him and Kimmy. (I've always felt like this may be BS to rile Kimmy up and distract her). Which, if true, would probably evolve into Kimmy spending a lot more time with Devlin, sleepovers, vacations etc. I could see Devlin wanting that, but I'm not sure it lines up with how mean both he and Amy can be to Josh. And Kimmy too on occasion. While Amy has shown disdain for Josh, I could see another possibility where she seduces him, as you say Mike, to justify Kimmy's behavior, or also to drop it as a grenade in the middle of their relationship. While Kimmy seemed to be okay with the idea of sharing Josh with Hyun as a way to corrupt him into being okay with her and Devlin, I'm not so sure she'd be okay with Amy having sex with Josh, especially when Kimmy is 1000s of miles away. If the "plan" is to inflict pain and destroy their relationship, this would be a good way to do it, depending on how the deed is unveiled. Assuming Josh gives in. Also assuming that Amy isn't there because Kimmy begged her to check up on Josh.
