Glad everything feels well paced! And, to answer your rhetorical question about Alicia, I will say that her personal motivations and conflicts will become more clear in time. Due to the nature of her existence (pun intended), her personal goals can't really be explored until the plot kicks off. Plus, the dynamic between the two of them is going to shape up to be even more perfect than you might think ;) In regards to the typo, thank you for catching that. I'd actually already fixed it on the master copy, and I must have forgotten to change it here.

You're doing an incredible job with this series! Exploring new ideas that fit perfectly into the world, it's really great! When it comes to the pacing of this story, I have no notes. To me, nothing feels rushed, stretched, or out of place. We see our new, leafy protagonist's daily life, and we see what may soon be the series' main source of conflict (the dungeon in her neighborhood). Also, it feels like genius idea to write these two characters specifically. A vampire who's afraid to get close to people and lose control, and a dryad who's gone a long time without in-person interaction. Who could a vampire connect with safely? Who could understand a dryad's . . . (to be honest, I don't understand Alicia's motivations well enough to complete this rhetorical question)? It feels like a perfect match in so many ways! One quick grammatical error: [It seemed oddly purposely, as if someone had long ago . . .] Oddly purposeful, I think. And it would be a mistake if I didn't highlight this line: [The vampire took a deep drink of her blood, closing her eyes in pleasure as her body seemed to warm slightly. She smiled as she pulled the pouch away, then unlocked her phone and started scrolling.] This universe rules.
