It's not the most recognizable reference, for sure, and it works better as a means of characterizing Chloé than giving an actual tail description.

Dadhiker

I hd no idea what a Tiefling was (I looked it up after your reference). You may have other readers like me.

Nyx Nyghtingale

The closest I've gotten to given a decent indication of Amara's length and general shape is in Chapter 13, where Chloé compares it to that of a Tiefling, and actually says that she's used to Succubi having smaller, thinner tails. Generally speaking, in relation to this point but also your 4th point, I put a lot of effort into leaving room for interpretation with my work, so I'm glad it's paying off.

N1) Thank you for the clarification about the asterisk. I somehow missed the connection with the intended typo above. N2) For whatever reason, I never envisioned the tail all that long. I certainly agree with your decision not to get too precise about its length. 5 feet would have to be a minimal length, for it would not only have to reach the length of Amara's torso plus Roses' mathematical calculation around Nick's penis, but it would also need additional length to wrap halfway around Amara going from her back to her front with extra length to spare for muscle movement/flexibility (the tail would not be taut in an effort to reach Nick's member). I don't wish to make a big deal about the tail and I realize now that my misimpression about the length is based upon most depictions of tailed demons, and I suspect that other readers may have the same image stuck in their heads as well. Perhaps you might capitalize on that in some future chapter if Amara is revealed in her demonic form to a new character. "I didn't think demon tails grew so long." N3) The sexual feeding bit was mentioned as a gray area, neither as a positive or negative. Amara seems to feed more out of need rather than of drive or desire (perhaps for power?). There's nothing wrong with that, for it seems to fit in more with Amara's human qualities. A more demonic possession would be more of a gnawing, insatiable hunger that is never fully satisfied. N4) One last note - a positive - based upon what is NOT in your story. Like the lack of specificity about her tail, nowhere in your characters do you mention breast size. Other stories erotic do this a lot (including the first one I wrote) and never in my college or adult life have I ever had this come up in any conversation. I assume that most women don't casually trade that kind of information among themselves (most guys don't share information about their length except on porn sites). Anyway, thank you for not including that in your story. (P.S.: I need to train myself to use the edit button, not the delete button when I forget how to make a new line).

Like AFanOfRoses mentioned, the asterisk was Chloé correcting a typo in her previous text message. Regarding Amara's tail, leaving the exact length unspecified was a choice i made early on. I try to stress that it's pretty long, and the picture I commissioned of Amara is a pretty good representation of its length. If I had to pick a number I'd say it's at least 5 feet long? But since it's rooted at her low back, it has a lot of flexibility with what it can interact with. Chloé being the only human, and the only one in a dorm, was mostly a coincidence. There are various other reasons the other girls have apartments, I've just never specified them. I specified in Chapter 10 that Amara can usually go 2ish days without feeding, but that's only how long it takes before side effects kick in. There's a lot of flexibility, and it can also greatly depend on how frequently she uses her demonic abilities. This is another aspect that I tend to err on the side of less information, rather than more. Plus, there's a (somewhat) unspoken assumption that Amara is feeding much more frequently than we actually see in the story.

I can't speak about the rest of your post, but there are two points I can try to offer clarity on: N1) Using an asterisk in a text is a common way to make a correction on a word sent in a previous text. So Chloé said that she's "handing" around her dorm, then sends another text to correct herself that she's "hanging" around. N2) I understand the spirit of your argument that we don't know exactly how long Amara's tail is, but it doesn't need to be as long as she is tall. It would need to be as long as the height of her torso, so her height minus her legs, plus (2πr)*n)+k where n is the number of times it wraps around Nick's pee pee, r is the radius of said pee pee, and k is the amount hanging off the pee pee after the part that's wrapped around. Anecdotally, her tail must be long enough to use constructively in a fight against Vee, and also long enough to hold draped over her hands as we saw in Chapter 13. Additionally, the distance from the end of a person's spine (where I assume Amara's tail is) to their lips is about the length of their arm from shoulder to fingertips on average (plus or minus a little), so it might be about as long as her arm, plus a little more to wrap around an object. Also, there's art of Amara on the Home page of this Patreon, which I assume is fairly accurate to her tail's dimensions.

Here's my two cents: A. The positives: 1. I love the cooking scene! It was a great use of Amara's demonic qualities in an unexpected form. You technique of drawing out Amara's control slowly, rather than giving her the innate ability of control hellfire was both clever and gave it a more believable quality. It does make me wonder more about Nick, though. He must have spent some time thinking about Amara and her abilities to come up with the popcorn idea. I don't know if you plan on revealing more about his own personal thoughts and aspirations, but there is a lot of good story material to be mined in him. 2. You've done a good job with aura readings. This is another area that would make for fun reading in the future. 3. The dream reading sequences are slowly taking shape and you've used this as a way of adding suspense at the end of a couple of chapters now. It's enjoyable now, but be careful not to "draw from the well" too much. B. The Negatives: 1. Not much here that FanofRoses hasn't already mentioned. There was an asterisk after the word "hanging" in the text between Chloe and Amara that wasn't previously mentioned. Is that supposed to be connected to something? 2. Amara's tail. You've done a wonderful job of coming up with multiple uses Amara has found for her tail as well and multiple way she can use it. However, I'm having an increasingly difficult time visualizing it. More specifically, exactly how long is her tail? For Amara to be lips-to-tip with Nick's cock and still have her tail wrapped around it means it would have to be at least as long as she is tall and then some. Does it change in length? You might want to give some more specifics about that at some point. C. The Gray Areas: (Random vague questions) 1. Chloe seems to be the only character who lives in the dorm, a far different ratio of living options where I went to college. Further, Chloe seems to be the only "human" in the story as well (although there may still be some question about Nick with whom we still know surprisingly little compared to the magnitude of his role in the story). It appears that only non-humans live outside the dormitories. Is that purposeful? 2. Like her tail, Amara's ability to draw power as a succubus seems to be inconsistently vague. She doesn't seem to require daily "feeds" to exist, yet wasn't overwhelmed with sexual energy at the Jade Palace Frat Party (although it did give her the supercharge strength she needed for her battle with Vee). In Chapter 16, her one time feeding with Nick seems to restore days of "fasting." Perhaps her sexual energy is more chemical than biological. By that I mean that she can feed and store energy without using it for days at a time as long as she does use it, sort of like putting gas in a car. Unlike biology where life requires a constant drain on the system that needs to be replenished on a regular basis with use being just one factor of many.

Not at all! I'm just terrible at reading sarcasm through text, sorry about that.

AFanofRoses

Sorry, I guess I didn't communicate that as well as I wanted to. I assume that the game is actually Stardew Valley, but since you didn't outright state the name, I thought it would be funny if I dramatically denied that it was Stardew Valley. That's my bad, I have a weird sense of humor that often goes to strange, unexplainable places.

Nyx Nyghtingale

All of the grammatical errors you pointed out are, in fact, errors. I'll make sure to correct those in the final draft! Regarding your theories, I'll continue to neither confirm nor deny any potential story beats, but I'm happy to see you so engaged! I'm curious though, you say that game Chloé is playing is "Definitely not Stardew Valley", can I ask why you think that?

AFanofRoses

Also, I'm about to share a theory about the story, and I ask that you please don't confirm or deny it here. I'd hate if my ideas forced their way into your world, so please don't change anything that you may or may not have planned just for my sake. There are a few lines in this chapter that make me suspect Chloé is being setup as a fairy or some other fairytale creature. We just learned that all of the mythical creatures exist (unless Tess is playing a prank on Amara, which would be very funny), they exist in a realm of nature, Chloé is playing a game about nature (and the game is definitely not Stardew Valley, I appreciate the detail!), she's always described as super-cute, and she is the only girl in the Core5 {name pending} that is currently not known to be extra-human. I could be completely reading too much into things, but I have a suspicion.

AFanofRoses

Another great chapter! To answer your question, I think the moments of downtime are great, paced well and offering more insight into the characters. Chloé continues to be a nerd in the best ways, and Nick continues to help Amara through her transformation even though she'd rather ignore her powers. Add to that the story progression of following the thread of the circles and Amara's recurring dream, and if this is an indication of how chapters in Book 2 will be, then I'm all for it! Once again, on a large scale, I don't have much to contribute. This is a great series so far, and I appreciate your dedication to carrying it into the future! Unfortunately, I did see a few small grammatical errors that you may want to look into. 1) [“Well, yeah, but… It’s not…” Chloé buried her hose in her sweater, blushing profusely] I'm all for reading a story with this kind of tag (if you know what I mean), but perhaps that isn't what you were going for with this line. 2) [She smirked, then fell to her knees in front of Nick. “Little slow on the uptake, are we? They locked eyes, Nick's aura staying to swell as understanding hit him.] Missed a quotation mark there. Unless Amara narrates her life like I do, in which case it was an excellent artistic decision. *Edit to add: Also, you may have meant to write "starting to swell," but that may just be an expression that I'm unaware of. 3) [She turned her head sideways, lips eagerly sucking the side of his cock, as she began moving up and down Nick’s cock.] Not a mistake or an error, but I notice that you usually avoid using the same word in a sentence twice. Feel free to keep this as it is, but you may consider using a different penile noun.
