Welcome back! I hope your vacation was relaxing and invigorating. I was starting to wonder where you'd gone :P In my head, when Amara is having her flashbacks, they're pretty all-consuming. This happened back in Chapter 14 as well, when she dropped her camera on the floor. Still, if there are better ways for that to come across, I'm more than happy to give that section a second pass. I have a feeling you won't be the only person that's dissappointed at Vee's first conversation with Amara. I've got a lot of people that want to see them make up, but there's a bit too much going on at the moment. I'm really happy you enjoyed this one! It tied up a few different plot threads, and I'm really happy with how it sets the scene for the rest of the book.

I'm back from vacation and enjoyed two new chapters! Congratulations. I may need to reread some parts of chapter 20 because I was initially confused with the way you describe Amara's first two falls from the sky at the stadium. It may be fine the way it is, but I would suspect that even Amara would feel herself suddenly falling, which apparently she doesn't. The return of Vee is a success. I like the way you wove Derek's confessions into her return to make it triumphant. Of course, I was disappointed that the initial meeting between Vee and Amara didn't go better, but that is exactly the kind of unexpected drama I've come to expect out of you (the irony in that sentence is intentional). Unfortunately, as much as my last sentence was intended to be a complement, the biggest complement to this chapter comes from FanofRoses, who vows to stop making predictions about where your story is going. Like me, Roses has come to expect the unexpected from you, which is the mark of a good story and the quality of a good writer. Well done. Addendum: This is one of your best chapters, if not the best chapter - and no sex scene!

Regarding your predictions, I promise you're not affecting the story. I outlined the entirety of Book 2 roughly 5-6 months ago, and currently I already know the entire plot for Books 3 and 4. Amara's decision to take these pictures as a way to undercut Brandon's threat has been something I've been building to for a while. Nick's explanation for her Halloween costume (giving people plausible deniability), as well as showing all her camera equipment in Chapter 14, these were all things I planted to eventually lead to this decision. Generally speaking, I like things to be somewhat predictable, while leaving enough room for surprises to still pop up occasionally. Like, at the end of Book 1. I don't think anyone was surprised that Vee and Amara ended up fighting, but hopefully it was a bit of a surprise seeing how far Amara went during the fight. Seeing people engage with the story, sharing what they want to happen, and what they think will happen, is incredibly encouraging. I see lots of correct guesses all the time!

This chapter was great. I love having Vee back, and I'm grateful that she's willing to see and talk to Amara, even a little. It also reinforces a running theme in this series that a story can have conflict without having a villain. Neither Amara nor Vee are bad people (in my estimation, anyway). They're both trying to make the best decisions they can, but it's understandable that Vee would respond negatively to Amara's actions with all the information she had. Speaking of villains, I'm also curious how the Brandon situation will play out in the long term. It seems like we haven't seen the last of him, but I can't predict what steps he may take to continue threatening and harassing Amara. I guess I'll just have to keep reading to find out! I should also stop making predictions in these comments. It's to your credit as an author that the foreshadowing for events leads the audience to the conclusions that you want them to arrive at. Even so, I'm irrationally suspicious that I'm influencing the story, and I don't want that. (A little sarcastic, a little serious, genuine praise) P.S. no grammatical mistakes! Continue slaying.
